[edit] Organization
The list should be alphabetical or orgnaized in some other way. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Tarun2701 (talk • contribs).
[edit] Revamp
I have recently revamped this list, mainly speaking is the new format. The intro needs work, (badly) and of course citations for each single one. Also I think a gallery at the bottom would be nice. Please help by adding more to the list or fixing some of my mistakes :). Arjun 02:36, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
- Good work! You could find some more information at Public holidays in India. As for images, Hindu festivals has several and so does some of the pages of the festivals. Cheers! S.D. ¿п? § 04:16, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Original List
Quick post of the festivals listed on the original list:
We could merge these to the current list and add compact, but informative, descriptions (along with citations, of course!). S.D. ¿п? § 04:38, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
- Of course, the list right now is in its basicness. We should go back and reference the ones we have *now* first (or simply add ones with refs) and then keep the list on "this talk" page intact, and whenever one of them is added we shall scratch it off. So if everyone is up for the task I think we could have a mighty fine list on our hands in the future. Arjun 04:43, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

- I will go to the library to pick out some cites, and add to the lead. Cheers! Arjun 05:02, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] January 14 or January 14th?
Are the little "rd"s and "th"s next to the dates really necessary? Dates are usually written the second way. –Llama man 18:06, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
- Good suggestion. Arjun started with the "th"s, but for now I will delete those. Cheers! S.D. ¿п? § 18:09, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
-
- Ack, thanks for reminding me. I have already deleted them :). Arjun 18:10, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
- That sure was quick, Arjun. :) Cheers! Oh, and by the way, what should be done next, in your opinion? S.D. ¿п? § 18:12, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
-
- Yup. Arjuna is noted for his quickness ;). But seriously, in my opinion I think that obvioulsy we should add more of the festivals, and once we add some of the key ones, I think we should go back and cite *each* one. Once that is done...the work will be the lead. Cheers! Arjun 18:55, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Festivals according to solar calendar
I am not sure that the comment that Makar Sankranthi is the only Hindu Festival celeberated according to solar calaendar is correct. What about Vishu/Bihu?
The fact that there are also several other festivals celeberated in certain regions only is not mentioned. E.g., Tiruvatira in Kerala --K N Unni 10:47, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
- Replied on the user's talk page. S.D. ¿п? § 12:47, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
