I am looking to find or build a simple Wikipedia:Citation templates for this page.

[edit] Organization
The list is already laid out by Continent alphabetically, sub categories (if needed) should follow the same format. I checked Wikipedia:List guideline and did not find a way to automate the organization of the list so it would have to manually sorted.

This page includes external links to organizations where available. Including external links in a list is not a standard process in Wikipedia. These links were included specifically to enhance the usability of this page for visually impaired users who may have difficulty locating the resources through sources other then Wikipedia. - Thank you for your question Pan Dan. No this article does not violate WP:NOT#Wikipedia is not a directory. It states "Lists or repositories of loosely associated topics" are not appropriate. Guide Dog schools are all related to single thing, training guide dogs. Jeepday 13:40, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Appropriateness?
I'm a bit torn on whether or not this article is reasonable.... I've watched most of the assistance dog articles get more and more links added as more people discover them, and have come to believe it's better to have no links to specific organizations rather than something like this- it almost feels like advertising- who gets to decide what organizations get put on? There isn't really a need for an article for every school... they'd pretty much all be stubs and look very similar, I think, and there's several great sites that can tell you organizations for your area and give you links for groups, such as IAADP's "Who's Who in the Assistance Dog Community" (speaking of which, I'm rather embarrassed I've missed the International Guide Dog Federation all this time...).
Anyway, if this is something you're set on, I guess you could start by adding all of the organizations that used to be listed on guide dog. -- Sarranduin (Talk) 23:16, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

- Appropriateness - The argument was made on the guide dog edits "01:29, 22 December 2006 Icemuon (Talk | contribs) m (The links will quickly get cluttered unless we keep them down to the most important ones.)" that the Guide dog article was not the location to list guide dog schools. So where besides a list of guide dog schools would be more more appropriate? Jeepday 14:21, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
- Who decides what gets put on? - Who ever wants to add a school, decides to add it (assuming it is a real school, Wikipedia entries must be verifiable). You may notice that this list as short as it is already contains two schools not listed on Assistance Dog International's directory of membership organizations (Pilot Dogs & Royal New Zealand Federation of the Blind}Jeepday 14:21, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
- Articles for every school - I don't know if there will be articles for every school. Each article in Wikipedia has to stand on its own. This list is built so that if the article is built later this list will already be built to wkiklink to it.Jeepday 14:21, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
- Advertisement - Some schools like The Seeing Eye (one of the first schools in the world, and the first in the US) do not even have web pages. The best information about it on line is only avaible on Wikipedia and other schools web pages. Jeepday 14:21, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
- Other lists on line - Wikipedia is an encyclopedia so unlike other list on line it should be complete regardless of if membership fees are paid or if a school goes out of business, this list is not dependent on fees for listing or other social/political factors. If a school has closed please leave it in place on the list (or add it) and put an entry in front of its place on the list "School closed" followed by the approximate date. Jeepday 14:21, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
