Talk:List of Gran Turismo courses
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I haven't got the time now but here's a list of improvements which I think could be made to this article:
- Split up the tracks into real life and made up
- Indicate which of the 4 games the tracks have been in
- For the GT4 tracks indicate any special conditions, e.g. wet or ice

[edit] update
I've excluded the various test courses for reasons that should be obvious.
Motorland as it appears in GT4 is at Tsukuba [1] (rotate 180 and compare to in-game track plan)- Cathedral Rocks is set at El Capitan
- Pike's Peak is a single course, the up- and downhill is essentially the same as the other courses being available in normal and reverse direction
- Red Rock Valley appears to be fictional - I can't find a real-life circuit matching this layout in Nevada, though it might be further away, so I've left it under "uncertain veracity"
Left to do:
- Las Vegas - was this the drag strip? If so, might be difficult to classify this, as that is very generic.
- I repointed Las Vegas to Las Vegas Strip since the game used the actual city street, which already had its own article. Specificaly, the game uses Las Vegas Blvd northbound, starting from just north of Flamingo Rd. Fubaz 01:48, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
- Grindelwald - it's been so long since I played GT2, I suspect the layout might be on here [2][3], but would appreciate if someone could check this against in-game track maps before putting it under "real settings".

- Seems I was wrong around Motorland. 81.104.165.184 08:43, 1 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] update
As requested by Sparky132, I reordered the tracks but I htought it would be better to order them based on the way Polyphony Digital has done it in the track selection area of GT4.
Also, I added courses included in Tourist Trophy, firstly because the two series of games are so similar, And secondly because the two series may eventually be merged in future editions, as seen at the E3 2006 presentation of GT HD where the demo feature both cars and motorcylces on the one program. If that doesn't eventuate then circuits like Valencia are bound to appear in the next GT anyway.
I hope this was helpful :)

- It seems the ordering suggested by User:Sparky132 was implemented, and then unpicked into a system dividing them up into real, fictional and original tracks, which IMO makes more sense, and is probably more helpful to the casual reader than whatever arbitrary classification Polyphony used. 81.104.170.167 07:25, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Comment placed on article
The two Tahiti Gran Turismo tracks are fantasy tracks based on the coastal road of Moorea (17°32' S, 149°50' W), a smaller island just a few kilometers away from the main island of Tahiti.
The real road is about 59 kilometers long, with the start/finish line placed on the stretch of tarmac at Maharepa, therefore, the game version of the road has been shortened, distorted and simplified. The game map for Tahiti Circuit follows Moorea's outline fairly closely, but Tahiti Maze is much more distorted and fanciful. The Tahiti Maze switch-backs are probably based on a twisty secondary road just south of Paopao. While the Revatua Club is shown on "Tahiti", in the game, it is actually a small, real hotel on another nearby Society island, Bora Bora.

[edit] Main redesign
- Now the courses are listed in a matrix describing the versions of the games that they appear.
- Different layouts or conditions count as different courses, reverse directions doesn't.
- If anyone knows any version specific issue please update the entry. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Racum (talk • contribs) 02:49, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
- After that, this article seems to use references as "notes". This seems non-standard, and makes it difficult to request citations for the notes themselves.--SportWagon (talk) 22:29, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
- Hmm. Okay I seemed to be able to add the citation request alright.--SportWagon (talk) 22:34, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Super Speedway versus Motegi Super Speedway
Was the GT2 and GT3 Super Speedway course not identical in dimensions to the Motegi Super Speedway? Some indication of the relationship between Super Speedway and Motegi Super Speedway should be indicated, I think.--SportWagon (talk) 21:47, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
