I must admit I always just considered being Dutch American to be equivalent to just being a generic white person. (I'm Dutch and Belgian on my mother's side) Although I guess there were more Dutch Dutch-Americans in history, especially in the history of New York like Van Buren. I'll categorize it.--T. Please see discussion at Wikipedia:Village pump (policy) for current discussion of a potential policy to apply to all ethnicity lists on Wikipedia, including this one. JackO'Lantern 20:43, 11 April 2006 (UTC)

Q&A

Q: So in order to be on the list, one has to refer to an outside source in the footnotes? huphtur

Yeah, a reliable source that calls the person "Dutch" or "Dutch American". It's the only way to follow Wikipedia policy. I'm formatting and sourcing the many, many Wikipedia lists to follow this. A lot have gotten out of line and the only way to really bring them all in synch and under Wikipedia policy (i.e. people who are actually Dutch American, not someone who just had a Dutch grandmother - or along those lines) is to make the people listed match the page's title... Sorry if it sounds like a lot to do, but it seems to have improved most of these lists. Mad Jack O'Lantern 05:07, 20 May 2006 (UTC)
