- Hmm... I'm not fond of these new subcategories. Many of the categories are substantially wrong (virtually none of the people listed as "cabinet members" were actually cabinet members), and visually it irritates me. I'm going to perform triage to try to make it more accurate, but other people should weigh in on these changes generally. JTM 02:24, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

- I think the bolding should go. It makes the dates more prominent than they should be. Tinlash 19:50, 11 August 2005 (UTC)
- Removed the bolding to put it in the same form as the presidents. Added links to people to put it in the same form as all the rest of the page. Even if the page doesn't exist, it may in the future. This way, the link doesn't have to be added later. Revert it back if there is a concensus that it shouldn't have been done. Tinlash 17:39, 15 August 2005 (UTC)
- What do you guys think about putting dates in the following form: "1913 to 1913" to make the formating cleaner?

- Guess it's been changed to List of Duke University People just like other universities have it.
- I agree with Tfine80. Some of the basketball players listed as alumni only spent one year at Duke. Kyle_UNC_Law

- I actually removed your change, because it turns out that the Duke Alumni Association considers any person who spends two semesters at Duke an alumnus/alumna. They referred to this in an issue of Duke Magazine a couple months back, because some normal alumni had complained that Elton Brand and Luol Deng was referred to as Duke alumni in an NBA ad in a previous issue. As it turns out, that is the proper term for anyone who completed at least a year at Duke. JTM 18:24, 18 July 2005 (UTC)
- "(Insert Name of University) People" is the just the "standard" of what's being used to name alumni and faculty articles. Ttownfeen 20:18, July 9, 2005 (UTC)
- However, now that I think of it, it should be "List of Duke University People". Also, I'm not sure they list of presidents belong here. Ttownfeen 21:43, July 9, 2005 (UTC)
- Shouldn't the list of people be alphabetized by last name and not the date of the terminal degree?
- Personally, I would have alphabetized by last name only, but as this is wikipedia, the standard format just HAS to be weird like that. Ttownfeen 16:13, July 10, 2005 (UTC)
- I checked the sites for other schools and they were all alphabetized by last name. I went ahead and alphabetized all of them. Tinlash
- I created a category for Duke alumni called Category:Duke University alumni, in order to prevent Category:Duke University from becoming cluttered. I've added the category to all alumni articles from the top of the page to Anne Tyler, the last in Academia, Research, and Literature, and would appreciate help finishing the rest! [edit] Rhodes Scholars
I eliminated the Rhodes Scholars; a number of schools have Rhodes Scholars, and being a Rhodes Scholar is not in and of itself notable enough for an encyclopedia. LaszloWalrus 00:01, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
