[edit] Merge Dargonesti into here

The list is supposed to be a general summary, but in this case the article is just as short as the summary. So unless we can flesh out the article a bit more and keep this page as a summary, then there is no point in keeping the article. ddcc 14:53, 9 May 2006 (UTC)

I have added a merge tag for the section. If nobody does, I will do it this weekend. -- ReyBrujo 15:20, 9 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Merged

Done. ddcc 03:47, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Regarding Mountain Dwarves

Why does Daergar redirect to Duergar? Does the Daergar clan have their own page? DoomsDay349 00:25, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

Because it is being redirected to the AD&D equivalent. -- ReyBrujo 00:27, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
Ok...so would it be alright if I created a Daergar page, regarding the actual Dragonlance Daergars? And also, what about the Dewar tribe? Do they have a page of their own or not? I'd like to fix up the dwarven sections. DoomsDay349 00:28, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
I don't think there is much information to create a page for the Daergar, the same way there is not enough information to create a Hylar or Neidar article. If we collect a lot of information about dwarves, we could create a Dwarf (Dragonlance) article, or add a Dragonlance section in Dwarf (Dungeons & Dragons). If we create such articles, they will be merged back here, just as what happened with Dargonesti and Dimernesti. -- ReyBrujo 00:32, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
So...ok that sounds good. If we did a Dwarf (Dragonlance) article, then what happens to the existing articles on dwarves, such as Calnar and Einar? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by DoomsDay349 (talkcontribs) .
They will have to be merged in that big article until they are big enough to have articles about each race. Of course, this is just my interpretation :) -- ReyBrujo 01:08, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
So then...shall we start it? DoomsDay349 01:35, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
A new article? I suggest improving the current one here, and see in a couple of weeks if the size is enough for creating a new article. I do not like the idea of splitting articles when they are still stubs. -- ReyBrujo 01:44, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
Ok, so perhaps subsubsection in the Dwarf category? DoomsDay349 01:57, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
Yes, sure. I "merged" all mountain dwarves in just a "Mountain dwarves" section, as there was not enough for having subsections for every dwarf. Theorically, the "Mountain dwarves" section should be divided in several subsections, one for every mountain race. -- ReyBrujo 02:05, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] New Articles on Mountain Dwarves

If I make a new article on a mountain dwarf clan, specifically, Klar, should I go with our idea of a subsubsection and do it here, or just start a new article? DoomsDay349 00:04, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

If the article has more than five pages (in example), do make a new page. If it has less than five pages, put it here. As I already said, the Dimernesti and Dargonesti articles were merged into this article because they were barely one page long. -- ReyBrujo 00:08, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
...What do you mean, five pages? Like, five pages if it were to be printed? I'm a bit confused. DoomsDay349 00:11, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
If you are going to create an article that looks like this, then keep it here. An article like Irda (Dragonlance) is fine enough. However, I suggest starting here, including information here, and once it is big enough, move it outside. If you want to create the article, go ahead and create it, if it is too small, we will merge it back here. -- ReyBrujo 00:18, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Merging Dwarf Articles

Should I start merging the existing dwarf articles into the mountaind dwarf sections? If I start now, do i have to put a merge tag anywhere? DoomsDay349 00:22, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

Which ones? Note that if those are Dungeons & Dragons races, they should not be mixed inside Dragonlance articles, but kept separated. In example, we link to Minotaur (Dungeons & Dragons) because minotaurs in Dragonlance are similar to those found in Dungeons & Dragons, however we do not merge them here because they aren't from Dragonlance, but instead an independant version of the same race. And we won't create a Minotaur (Dragonlance) article because most of the information will be the same between both articles. -- ReyBrujo 00:25, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
Well, Calnar and Einar were two of the articles that I was thinking about, I'll review the rest of the dwarf articles too. Possibly all of them, if they are all short. DoomsDay349 00:31, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
Strike that last bit. There doesn't seem to be any other seperate dwarf articles aside from those, so most likely would merge those, then begin writing on the other ones. DoomsDay349 00:35, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Dwarf Clan Numbers

How many dwarf clans are there? I can think of 12, 13 if you count gully dwarves. There's probably more though. The 13 I can think of are (alphabettically) Aghar/Gully, Calnar, Daergar, Daewar, Dewar, Einar, Fianwaar(perhaps wrong spelling), Hylar, Kayolin, Klar, Neidar, Theiwar, and Zhakar. DoomsDay349 00:31, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

I have never been able to buy the Dwarven Trilogy, so I only know the post-cataclysm ones, Daergar, Daewar, Hylar, Klar, Neidar, Theiwar, Zhakar and Aghar. -- ReyBrujo 00:42, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
Well...we can start with the known ones, then...figure it out from there. DoomsDay349 00:51, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
The Calnar technically still exist as the Zhakar now. Same situation with the Einar. They became the Neidar. Kayolin isn't a clan at all, it is just a location. Saying Kayolin dwarf would be like saying Thorbardin dwarf. The dwarves that live there are of the Hylar and Daewar clans. The Fianawar however should be added. I however don't have any substanial information on them. I would suggest looking at the Otherlands and Taladas supplements as well as the Taladas Trilogy of novels (think I remember something about them in there) for info. Alas I do not have access to these documents.Showers 06:08, 2 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Too large

The article is too large and must be splited in other articles usin the template {{main}}, for example. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 81.32.50.165 (talk • contribs) .

The edit page doesn't say it's especially long... --Masamage 16:58, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
List of Dragonlance characters is even longer and it hasn't been split. ddcc 17:30, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
Sure. That article is worse. Edit and read. It should be split. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 81.32.50.165 (talk • contribs) .
Please sign your comments. I'd be all for the characters article being split, but this one would only produce lots of stubs. We shouldn't split until there's enough information. (Elves could maybe get their own article?) --Masamage 19:20, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
Most of the creature types don't have enough information to create an article. However, if you find there is a lot of information (so that when removed from here wouldn't create a stub article), then feel free to create an article with the correct title. -- ReyBrujo 19:26, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Creating new articles

Do you think the Dargonesti section is long enough for it's own article? I could add the subsections and put it up, if you think it's long enough. Pretty much all the articles on races can be made into new articles soon, with the resources I have. The only reason we might not split Dargonesti is because it has no info from Alien Sea or The Dargonesti. I have the Dargonesti but won't be reading it for a while. DoomsDay349 01:13, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

Update The Dargonesti when you do. Still working on The Alien Sea, do any cleanups you see fit. Incorporate contents from those two, and then we split. Also lots of other underwater races in the alien sea. The Dargonesti is mostly about the lives of a group of Dargonesti that split from the main. The underwater "dark elves" have a name, it'll show up in the article soon enough (can't remember right now). Ddcc 05:26, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Irda Clean Up

The Irda section really needs to be cleaned up to use accurate terms. The article seems to imply that all ogres are refered to as Irda and that the original ogres were called Irda. Irda only refer to the ogres led by Igraine who escaped the the degeneration of the evil ogres. The section needs to include the group of Nzunta and other various Ogre subraces that are located in Taladas. Not to mention the ogre Titans. Showers 05:08, 2 May 2007 (UTC)

I have my Dragonlance Campaign Setting and I'll do my best when I get to it. DoomsDay349 20:05, 2 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Draconians.jpg

Image:Draconians.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] Copyright problems

I haven't read the entire article, but I can tell pretty quickly that the entire section on Dragons is lifted verbatim from this site. Copying things directly from a copyrighted website isn't a "fair use" of the text, especially if you don't indicate that it's being quoted. The text in this section (and any other that's directly copied from the Dragonlance Nexus site) needs to be reworked into your own words, or it'll be deleted. Cheers! Esrever (talk) 18:57, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

Apparently someone has been copying information from there. We could restore a previous version, like this one, which should be safe, although we should verify that was not copied as well. -- ReyBrujo (talk) 03:04, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
I guess I haven't been doing a good enough job looking this stuff over. As an author of that article in the above link, I never gave permission for that to be put on the Wikipedia. Since I prolly have a conflict of interest, I will allow others to change it, but I did tag it with a copy and paste.--Kranar drogin (talk) 03:15, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
Apparently Nevermore27 (talk · contribs) replaced the old text with copies from Nexus. I suggest reverting back to this version, the previous before Nevermore27 began the copy/paste work, which appears to be completely independent. I will check later for the edits of this user, he may have copied other articles too, although this happened months before. -- ReyBrujo (talk) 03:54, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
Thanks, guys. This is why I didn't want to go deleting it willy-nilly. I knew one of you guys who was keeping an eye on things would have a better idea of what to do with all this.
And Kranar drogin, it's really a shame WP can't use your text. It was quite good. :) Cheers! Esrever (talk) 04:56, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Thanoi Merger proposal

I am proposing that Thanoi be merged here. It is a weak article (no offense to present company meant) and I doubt it could survive an AfD if one was brought. Thanks. Web Warlock (talk) 16:28, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
