[edit] Station logos
I've removed the logos from this page, since they are all (as far as I can tell) fair use, and don't meet our fair use criteria, specifically #8 which says "The material must contribute significantly to the article"... that is, text alone should be sufficient to fully describe each channel. See Wikipedia talk:Fair use/Archive 7#Logos, resolved for a similar instance where a list of logos was removed. --Interiot 01:17, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Why does this exist?
Why is this article here? It's a clear violation of WP:NOT:
“ | Wikipedia is not a directory of everything that exists or has existed. Wikipedia articles are not: ... Directories, directory entries, TV/Radio Guides, or a resource for conducting business. ... Wikipedia is not the yellow pages. See Yellowikis for a project with that goal. | ” |
.
I will nominate this article for deletion. /Blaxthos 10:02, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
- I have similar things in my userspace (eg. User:Interiot/Watchlists/110 Congress elections). But yeah, I think this might be useful, but it should be userfied or transwikied. --Interiot 14:08, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
- This isn't a TV or Radio guide, it doesn't have the station channels and times. It's just a list of stations and channels. Shouldn't be deleted...—Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.212.4.137 (talk • contribs) 18:53, 6 November 2006
It is surely a directory, and clearly not encyclopaedic. /Blaxthos 06:47, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
- I would argue conversely -- that is is encyclopaedic (in that it only provides an indication of what channels are available), and, as I've mentioned in the corresponding DirecTV article, the information was previously contained within the Dish Network article, but was broken out once it made the initial article long and unwieldy. If it included full-fledged channel listings, I would agree with you, but with a singular list (not unlike the canonical list of airlines or perhaps the list of television DMAs) of channels, this does not violate WP:NOT. --Mhking 14:52, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
- Looking at the page, the Shopping channel section is not of value, but it is a good source of what domestic and world TV signals were available back in 2006 in the USA.
New technology or changes in politics may make DBS service obsolete, it is memorialized what was provided. Someone interested in making a choice to get DBS service would go to the commercial web site of the provider, to see current packages and pricing, something Wiki shouldn't duplicate, and doesn't on this page. [edit] Legend
If various TV station entries are going to be given special background colours, wouldn't it make sense to have a legend somewhere obvious describing what those colours mean? --Squiggleslash 14:46, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] The Pursuit Channel
According to Dish Channel Chart: Channel 230 will become The Pursuit Channel in Feb. 2008. GD1223 (talk) 14:39, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Preview Channels
I have removed the section because the preview channels have moved to their normal places. GD1223 (talk) 21:25, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] The N is now on ch. 177
The N replaced Nick GAS on ch. 177, did it happen last week or two weeks ago? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.127.178.158 (talk) 19:28, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Info+Interactive
channels 100-103 are on DISH Family. GD1223 (talk) 12:33, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Setanta sports
Setanta Sports (Channel 406) is not part of America's Top 250 programming package. The channel requires a monthly subscription. 162.115.108.120 (talk) 19:07, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Baby First+Spike
Did it happen yet or is someone putting crap up? They are saying spike is 136 and babyfirst is on 168.71.246.81.124 (talk) 21:07, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] FUTURE
just to be let you all know, the noggin and the n split WILL be put as a future channel, as it will happen soon or TBA71.246.81.124 (talk) 21:22, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] HD channels
This list is becoming a mess, with HD and SD channels in different sections, shouldn't the HD channel be paired together with the SD version if it exists? If it's just a HD channel (the VOOM channels for example) then it should have a seperate section. See List of DirecTV channels. Mr mark taylor (talk) 22:10, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
