I'm still a little new around here, but if the deletion discussion res ulted in a keep, why does the page still mention that it was suggested for deletion? Shouldn't that be taken down now? Also, why the note about not citing the sources? This is all available ont he card that comes with a DirecTV receiver. 67.142.130.37 01:59, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] New channels on DirecTV include

 • National Geographic Channel HD on channel 77.
 • Sport Subscriptions promo on channel 106.
 • NFL Sunday Ticket Offer on channel 107.
 • ESPN Game Plan on channel 109.
 • America's Values on channel 224 airs 4PM-10PM Eastern
 • Direct Shopping Network on channel 224 airs 10PM-5AM Eastern
 • Shepherd's Chapel Network on channel 224 airs 6AM-10AM Eastern
 • Hollywood Celebrity Products on channel 364 airs 5PM-7PM Eastern
 • Retirement Living TV on channel 364 airs 9AM-5PM Eastern

National Geographic Channel HD may come to that channel soon, but DirecTV does not have it on their channel list and customers can not get it yet so i am removing it for now.--Kyle(talk) 15:54, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] MHD

Is MHD not carried yet, or will it be carried? --myselfalso 22:15, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

It's been "coming soon" for heaven knows how long. Supposedly D* is getting ready to add something like 100+ national HD channels, but I'll believe it when I see it. --Mhking 01:39, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Why does this article exist?

Why is this article here? It's a clear violation of WP:NOT:

Wikipedia is not a directory of everything that exists or has existed. Wikipedia articles are not: ... Directories, directory entries, TV/Radio Guides, or a resource for conducting business. ... Wikipedia is not the yellow pages. See Yellowikis for a project with that goal.

.

I will nominate this article for deletion. /Blaxthos 10:00, 4 November 2006 (UTC)

I think this is a complete misinterpretation of the idea. Read the whole section.
Directories, directory entries, TV/Radio Guides, or a resource for conducting business. For example, an article on a radio station generally should not list upcoming events, current promotions, phone numbers, schedules etc., although mention of major events or promotions may be acceptable. Furthermore, the Talk pages associated with an article are for talking about the article, not for conducting the business of the topic of the article. Wikipedia is not the yellow pages. See Yellowikis for a project with that goal.

WP:NOT
There is nothing in that that says that you can't have a list of the channels a service provider has. It simply says that you can't list the shows that each channel has in the day. The logical idea would be to merge it with DirecTV, but that's insane. There's no way to shorten it, and as DirecTV adds more channels, it's going to grow bit by bit. To simply throw this article for deletion within 5 days is also rediculous, I might add. I didn't even know you posted on here on 4 November; for whatever reason, this talk page didn't show up in my Watchlist. AfD would've been easier; the AfD box is easy to use--at least it has a link to the deletion discussion. --myselfalso 09:09, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
This article started out as a part of the DirecTV article, and was separated out once it was realized simply how large the list was; a similar situation occurred with the corresponding Dish Network channel list article. The only other option here actually would be to remerge it with the corresponding articles, but once again, we would be faced with an insanely long article in each case. --Mhking 14:48, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
And such would be the case with all other lists that has been nominated. As it is, its very hard just to keep these list short on their own.TravKoolBreeze 19:10, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

Upon further review, I think that a lot of the confusion regarding this article came because, in its current format, with the channels listed it looks like nothing more than TV listings. TV listings would not be appropriate for an encyclopedia. However, I think this article could be a great start for a "Category:Networks Available on DirecTV" or something of the sort. 00:32, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] "Potential Channel Conflict"

There's no possibility of conflict for channels from 70-99; the FCC has stated that no channels that high will be used for digital signals. Not only that, but they will actually eliminate channels between 60 and 69 once their analog counterparts are vacated. --Mhking 16:36, 25 November 2006 (UTC)

Read Virtual channel. 1-99, including 37 and 52-99, are available as virtual channels in ATSC. Maybe that's what you mean. Shin'ou's TTV (Futaba|Masago|Kotobuki) 20:48, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Channels 0 and 1

These channels do not exist. 69.14.91.127 05:36, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

The channels do exist on some HD model tuners, as noted in the entry. --Mhking 06:07, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
If they do, and I have never seen them myself, they are simply "pretend" channels found only on obsolete receivers. They are not broadcast from the 110W satellite like the entry states, and the current HD receivers do not show either channel. 69.14.91.127 18:56, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] I dont have Showtime and TMC but I still Get Sundance.

Why does it say on the note otherwise?

[edit] CaribVision

Directv is sleeping to avoid creating new press releases. The channel 2181 premiered on July 14, 2007. CaribVision is a la carte for $14.99 and also available together with Hype TV for $19.99. Must have WorldDirect satellite pointed at 95° W.

Dish Network hyped about CaribVision. Channel 785 uplinked in October 2006. Too bad Dish Network satellites aren't Caribbean friendly.

DirecTV Interactive Channel 115 is no longer available. - NBK1122 18:41, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] 2 lines for HD channels or 1?

I'm inclined to think that 1 line is sufficient. While there are 2 lines in the on screen program guide and they do have different names (usually just 'HD' tacked on the end of name), having 2 lines only makes the list here longer. Thoughts?--Rtphokie 12:38, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

They are, by definition, two separate channels, and in some cases (HGTV & Food Network immediately come to mind) have different programming than their parent channels. I'd be more inclined to keep separate lines for each channel, despite the list length. --Mhking 13:07, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
How about a separate column for HD channels? That would help highlight those channels with HD equivalents and would also give space identify channels are planned for HD in the future?--Rtphokie 13:16, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

Since DirecTV HD receivers can tune to both the SD and HD channels, wonder if it would be helpful to show the "HD" after the channel number so it's clear that the subscriber has access to programming on both channels. Such as:

202       CNN
202-HD  CNN HD

[edit] Pre-adding channels

This list is for channels that have already launched. Please do not add channesl to this list until they actually launch (i.e., Fox Business Network & the HD networks). --Mhking 14:12, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Separating HD channels

I have a major problem with pulling the HD stations separated from the list -- especially without discussing it here. If there isn't any discussion within the next day or so, I'll revert it to the prior version. --Mhking 03:59, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

I've put the HD channels back in the regular listing, at least until a consensus can be reached over whether or not they should be separated or not. --Mhking 17:41, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
Did you mean to put this on DirecTV's talk page? There's a seperate list of HD channels there, and yes it doesn't belong there either. Lists relating to DirecTV channels belong here.--Rtphokie 01:34, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
No, it was from here -- someone pulled out the HD channels and put them in a separate table on this page. I agree with you on the D* article; I'll take a closer look at it later tonight (I'm at work and on deadline right now). --Mhking 02:38, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
Perhaps when there were a handful of HD channels, it made sense to put them in a seperate list but with so many now, that doesn't make much sense. Perhaps it's time to convert this list into one big sortable table, that would allow many organizational ideas to be satisfied.--Rtphokie 12:19, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Color in table

I'm throughly confused with the colors we are using in the table. Yes, we have a legend, but a simplified system would be best. I'm going to try to devise something along those lines. --Son (talk) 14:27, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

:And honestly, the colors themselves are somewhat difficult to differentiate from one another. ONEder Boy (talk) 04:20, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] How do you get to the templates?

I want to add channels sometimes that are not updated on this list and I get go to template and I can't figure out how to do it. There is a new channel on Channel 608 called MAN: Maximum Adventure Network that just started today Feb 1 08.

If someone can help me I would appreciate it. --—Preceding unsigned comment added by {} (talk • contribs)

Just click [Edit] on the 600-700 section. You should then see {{tl|List of DirecTV channels 600-700)). Copy the template, and paste it in the search box on the left. Then drop the & so it's just List of DirecTV channels 600-700 . Then add to the front Template: so it'll be Template:List of DirecTV channels 600-700. That's how you get to the template.
After a while, you get used to it! --Son (talk) 19:48, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Water Channel

User:Mu69 (edit|talk|history|links|watch|logs) has been repeatedly adding the Water Channel to the list of future channels, based solely on the mention at the channel's website that it will be carried on DirecTV in the future.

I have been removing the listing on the grounds that an independent source is needed to verify the new channel. I mean, any channel could say that they'll be carried on DirecTV. It's another thing to have the same report show up on DirecTV's website—or a third-party source like TV Guide, etc.

Has anybody encountered any independent evidence about Water Channel? —C.Fred (talk) 20:34, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

FYI, there is no mention of Water Channel at the DirecTV website. —C.Fred (talk) 20:43, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
Why does it need to be mentioned on thier website?Dvferret (talk) 15:39, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Sorry for the posts

I'm sorry for just make up information like changing baby first tv to baby fart tv or changing jewerly channel to jewlarry channel or moving channels to other places or take channels off the directv channel lineup lineup making up a minimum package however it was true when I said jewerly television was temporarily both ch.313 & ch.367 before wht moved to ch.367 & that ch.325 now says spike tv has moved to ch.241 & going to directv.com will prove i'm right about ch.325 now says spike tv has moved to ch.241. posted on 04/12/08 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 4.153.86.153 (talk) 20:46, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

I only put it in the coming soon area because the website says it all over I have asked Directv and they said it is still in negotiations. I would only assume that it has been dropped from Dish as I entered my zip code on the channels website and only directv comes up. I get frustrated sometimes because some users remove stuff when its right on the screen I subscribe to directv and it gets frustrating. I have a question do all the contributers subscribe to Directv? Or is some channels only available in different areas. I live in the Northwest Pacific zone. I won't put anything more until other research about it. I have emailed the channels website and Directv. I won't put anything up until I hear from both of them.--Mu69 (talk) 21:27, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

I agree with you. I would have added the channel as well. It is irritating when they remove it with no explanation as to why.Dvferret (talk) 15:39, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] MTV Jams on DirecTV?

Is MTV Jams really coming to DirecTV or is this an April Fools' joke? (2008) You list no sources. --68.95.36.138 (talk) 05:56, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

do you think they'll put another station as ch.325 in the future? because I think RFD-TV will be moved to ch.325 in the future, but I don't know that may not happen

[edit] Boomerang

Uh, here it's listed as "Choice" yet it's clearly Choice XTRA. I'm going to edit, unless they're planning to change it soon. --BS01Swert (Talk) 00:54, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
