[edit] Neuromancer (film)

Well, I don't know why, but it was here before: why is Neuromancer not referenced here? The film has been in development hell for most of my entire life, surpassing even the Doom movie. In fact, I'd say that it has taken so long I wonder if the future setting is even still credible to possible audiences. 148.244.43.169 15:47, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] The Lord of the Rings

More information about The Beatles wanting to be involved with The Lord of the Rings, although seems like it was back in the 60's - http://homevideo.about.com/od/dvdreviewslong/fr/pkReturnKingDVD.htm

- - - -

I've just made a tiny amendment to the section on the Lord of the Rings, and I know it's really pedantic and fussy. I've changed the comment about 'The Hobbit' so that it defines the book as the 'prelude' novel to the Lord of the Rings, rather than the 'prequel'. 'Prequel' as coined has a specific meaning, in that it's a story or part of a story that is set before what we've already seen, but is filmed/written/programmed after it. So if Tolkien had written The Hobbit after the Lord of the Rings, it would be a prequel. Sorry. I'll get my coat...--24.4.106.219 05:16, 10 May 2006 (UTC) - Adaru 20:37, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

  • Ralph Bakshi's 1978 film was a financial success. It cost $8 million to make, and grossed over $30 million. It was NOT a "bomb." (Ibaranoff24 21:32, 9 August 2006 (UTC))

[edit] The Drifters

I read somewhere that The Drifters still holds the record for the most expensive picture never made. That is, the movie rights to the 1971 novel were very high, yet no movie ever resulted from the book. Can anybody confirm this, and does this qualify as DH? Verne Equinox 23:24, 8 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Others

  • The Sandman movie
  • Elfquest movie
  • Sliders movie
  • Invader Zim (Invader Dib miniseries)
  • Doom's IV movie (image comics)

[edit] And those that arent

Not quite related, but a sequel to Stargate has been planned for years, based on the successful series. They never quite get there because the series keeps getting renewed and everyone knows making a movie kills a series -- Vstarre 16:35, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Passion of the Clerks

If any one knows any good info on Clerks II, it would seem that may be an entry

no Clerks II never had problems in development Kevin Smith wrote it after the Clerks: X DVD release and proceeded to get funding and basically everything Kevin Smith wantedMrM 13:02, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
Yeah it was just a name change. He talked about it for a long time but it never went through development hell. The only hell associated with the movie is having to watch it.

[edit] Mortal Kombat: Devastation

Can someone please add Mortal Kombat: Devastation to the list? I'm not sure how to edit the article properly.Wesborland 07:30, 15 October 2006 (UTC)

What about space ball III ou II

[edit] What about the Halo movie?

Thats in development Hell! I mean look at whats happening.--64.121.1.55 06:46, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, I agree... I'm going to add it, and the Splinter Cell movie.

[edit] Harlan Ellison's Asimov-approved script for I, Robot

I don't know if it fits into this category, but Harlan Ellison wrote a script for an I, Robot movie (see I, Robot (film)#History and I, Robot#Adaptations) in collaboration with Isaac Asimov himself. I don't know if its development ever advanced to the level of "Development hell", but I thought it should be mentioned. (d'oh! I thought I signed) --Davecampbell 18:42, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Older Works

What about the following older works? They have had multiple directors and casting changes (citations needed).

Gone With the Wind Wizard of Oz

Feel free to add more. Also, the article should separate works that have been released from those that are still pending. 66.168.64.187 07:26, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Evangelion Live Action

I would like to add the "Live Action Evangelion Movies" to the list of "development hell" proyects, It was similar to the DBZ Movie. They had the rights for the franchise, but never got money to start the project (and with new evangelion anime coming this year, the live action project is dead for good).

[edit] Fletch Won (aka Fletch3)

Fletch Won seems like a good example of something which has perhaps reached DH in the filmmaking realm. This one was bandied about for about a decade and is finally described as being in production. I'd help see it get added if it indeed meets the definition. Bsharkey 20:37, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Porno, the sequel to Trainspotting

Should Porno, the sequel to Trainspotting, based on the novel of the same name be considered for addition to the list? The film was originally announced back in the nineties in passing however Danny Boyle and Ewan McGregor had a falling out over Danny not casting Ewan as Richard in The Beach. Since then the film has been mentioned whenever Trainspotting comes up with Danny changing his story from there are plans to not wanting to make the film until 2015 so that the actors are properly aged for the sequel. –– Lid(Talk) 11:17, 14 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Superman sequel and JLA

This list needs to be updated, as the announced JLA live-action film is now reportedly in development hell, as is the planned sequel to Superman Returns, with latest reports suggesting Singer isn't involved anymore. 23skidoo (talk) 20:40, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
