Talk:List of Danish Americans

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

[edit] Sources

I have sourced the list in accordance with Wikipedia's Original Research and Verifiability policies. Basically, anyone described by a reliable source as "Danish" or "Danish-American" (i.e. as opposed to "of Danish descent", "Danish mother", etc.) is on the list. Here are the people I couldn't find anything for. If you have a reliable source that fits that please restore the names:

The only names off that list that count as Danish Americans are Jack Anderson, Michael Madsen, William Petersen, and Gale Sondergaard. The others are simply Danish. They've all been checked, though, and I added the appropriate ones. Thanks for offering the list! Beginning 23:02, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Qualifications

Just wanted to note that future editors should keep in mind that to be Danish American means to be born in the United States to Danish ancestry. Although there are plenty of natives Danes who have become famous working or living in the United States, they are Danish, not Danish American. People born in Denmark or elsewhere should not be added to this list. Beginning 20:00, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Sourcing

I have spent entirely too much of my day on this article as well as Danish Americans, but things are now much tidier. This entire page, except for Julie Bond and Lis Wiehl, have now been ref'ed. I've heard Wiehl say before that her mother's Danish, so there must be a cite out there somewhere if someone wants to find it.

Please keep the spirit of this going. Make sure new additions are properly ref'ed and listed. Thank you! Beginning 23:02, 18 July 2007 (UTC)
