[edit] Title for Episode 1

The official Code Geass trading cards have been released (or at least the first round/pack thereof, anyways), and one of the cards has the translation of episode 1 (stage 1) as On The Day The Demon Prince was Born. Should the fan-translated titles be changed to whatever the trading cards say in the future? See the episode 1 card -Atashi 00:42, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

I think it should be changed. It is official. Kurigiri 08:48, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

I don't see the reason to change it. Although official, this translation seems like a good example of Engrish. This article is meant for English speakers, so a coherent translation or official translation by an Anglophone company would be best. "The Day the Demon Prince was Born" looks closer to 魔神 が 生まれた 日. Shiosai 22:19, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

Engrish or not, it's official.

The English dub which has just premiered on Adult Swim apparently subtitles it as "The Day a New Demon was Born". That seems to be the newest official English translation. Juancarlos2004 (talk) 18:55, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] C.C.'s real name

Tricky. Ep. 11 offers two interpretations to the viewer:

  1. C.C.'s real name is plink, which is definitly non-human, hinting she may be some kind of spirit of nature, perhaps some nordic deity, ice fairy, whatever
  2. C.C.'s real name is something else, but just as we hear it or hear Lelouch saying it, at the same time a drop from a stalagtite hits the water surface and covers it.

Hmm.. as I don't see anyone uttering her name first, I bet it is plink.

And a side note: I wish Kallen was written as Karen and Lelouch as Lelouche because that would be better English and French. But if the series creators stick to those mistakes we probably have to stick to them as well.

--Marc van Woerkom 22:19, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

What??? 'Plink'? o_o No way. Just try to read Lelouch's lips as he says C.C.'s name. The audio was silenced on purpose. -Atashi 02:33, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

We'll see. :-) And now I remember where I last time heard a funny name, it was Splash, where the name of the mermaid was useful to break glass as well. --Marc van Woerkom 11:01, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

Just thought I'd point out that Kallen and Lelouch are actual names, so I find it hard to believe that they are mistakes. Not as popular maybe, but legit names. Calaschysm 03:15, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

Ok, with Lelouch I am wrong it seems. Where is Kallen used as name? --Marc van Woerkom 11:01, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kallen_Esperian It's an Irish name, though originally a boy's name. Calaschysm 18:06, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
Kallen was also how it was spelled in roman letters on a poster iirc, so I suppose it is canon now. Hoenstly, I would have preffered it to be Karen myself, but there you have it. Anonymous 01:57, 09 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Short Summary Guidelines

IMHO many of the short summaries aren't really short and some give too much away of the episode's plot. Are there any Wikipedia guidelines dealing with this? What are your opinions? --Marc van Woerkom 14:10, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

WP:FICTION states "Plot summaries should be kept reasonably short, as the point of Wikipedia is to describe the works, not simply summarize them. ", so I completely agree that summaries should be kept reasonably short and simple. It also helps organize the article in a much more suitable way, in my opinion. ···巌流? · Talk to Ganryuu 16:59, 1 February 2007 (UTC)

The latest edits are fine, but not for this article. I suggest moving the present long descriptions into separate articles which cover a single episode each. Here we should only have short, spoiler-free summaries. Your opinions? --Marc van Woerkom 19:20, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

Partial Agree. For separate articles per episode, the summaries may as well be on the scope of Star Trek the Next Generation. It's possible to write up episode summaries in 3 sentences or less. Of course, some may require longer - but not many. For a model list, just look at List of Oh My Goddess episodes. KyuuA4 21:44, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

I've been trying to shorten the summaries as much as possible. It's not a problem if they include spoilers, but I agree that many of them are too verbose. --Darkbane 21:10, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Zero vs Lerouch

We all know they refer to the same person. The summaries must be as condensed as possible. To save space, use one reference or the other, but not both in the same sentence. KyuuA4 17:53, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Screenshots

  • It looks like the screenshots in this article are decorative and not acceptable per Wikipedia policy, and should be removed. JuJube 05:36, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
As opposed to all of the other anime episode list articles using screenshots? Moogy (talk) 12:55, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
I think the screenshots are just fine. How do they not fit the various episodes? Which specific policy do you find them to be in violation of? --Darkbane 15:08, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
I think it's been found that episode lists using screenshots are acceptable as they help to illustrate each episode. Voretus 15:11, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
There's a big debate going on about it in WP:AN right now, and it looks like the majority think they shouldn't be in any episode list article. Read there for more info. JuJube 21:57, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
Thanks. I'm still looking over the issue, but I've also just noticed that many of our images are high resolution and - more importantly - lack a fair use rationale tag and/or text. That's not good. --Darkbane 22:41, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
I've read most of what's been said there now. Since the discussion is still very much in progress, let's leave the images for now. I'm afraid that a removal of the images will lead to a revert war and eventually to locking the page against edits, something that won't benefit any of us.
Having said that, it's vital that all images at some point are replaced with relevant, low-resolution images with completed fair use rationale tags containing detailed arguments for the image use. I'd start working on it myself, but I'm unable to take screenshots. --Darkbane 23:00, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
Looks like the problem was solved in favor of not including any screenshots. --Darkbane 13:12, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
