My name is Ennappadam Ramachandran Rajagopalan. My grandfather the doyen of Harikatha from Palghat, Late Ennappadam Venkatarama Baghavathar is also a great composer. He has composed many Kritis in many different Ragaas. The main composion needing specific mention is his KRISHNA ASHTOTHAREEYAM A MASTERPIECE OF 108 songs for each Namavali of SriKrishna. This compositions have been donated to Kerala Nataka Sangeetha Academy who have brought forth a book in Malayalam with copyright to them. Even today in Kerala music colleges the curricular includes one song of Ennappadam Venkatarama Baghavathar. Ennappadam is a small village in Palghat, may be five kms in the Pollachi road, two kms before the village Elappulli. [edit] Evidence of Carnatic Kriti compositions?

I would like to know the Carnatic Kriti compositions of Narayana Teertha (1580 - 1660) and Vyasatirtha (1460-1539). Ohterwise their names should be removed from the list, I think.--Aadal 23:28, 12 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] carnatic composers from Mysore kingdom

I will add a list called "Composers of Mysore kingdom" from a new book I am refering to. The article currently reflects composers mostly from Tanjore region and is short on composers from Mysore region, the other region of excellence, especially in intrumental classical music from the 1700-1900 time frame.Dineshkannambadi 18:05, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

I have moved the names of a few composers from the list on top to the list "composers of Mysore Kingdom" because that is where they belong. My reference book is

  • Pranesh, Meera Rajaram (2003), Musical Composers during Wodeyar Dynasty (1638-1947 A.D.), Vee Emm Publications, Bangalore
