Why are almost all the images listed as candiates for speedy deletion, when the rational is listed, but no counter argument for deletion exists, or even a discussion? Prgrmr@wrk 16:22, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

The images have fair-use rationales for the characters' individual articles, but not for inclusion on this aggregated List of. Fair-use images need a fair-use rationale for EVERY article they appear in. See WP:FAIRUSE. --EEMeltonIV 16:45, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
The images I commented out have fair-use rationales on the individual character pages, but not for us on this List of page. e.g. the picture of Optimus Primal includes a fair-use rationale for its use on Optimus Primal -- but the fair-use write-up does not specify the rationale for its use here. Such a rationale would probably be virtually identical to the one for the Optimus Primal page, but nevertheless it needs to be a distinct write-up; WP:FAIRUSE requires a fair-use rationale/write-up for EACH use of an image. --EEMeltonIV 03:47, 28 July 2007 (UTC)

  • WP:FURG requires that "a separate rationale must be provided each time the image is used in an article."
  • One editor has <!--commented out--> all of the images on the page because none of the images has a fair-use rationale for their inclusion on this page. This editor has requested on the article talk page, in edit summaries, and on a restoring editor's talk page that fair-use rationales be provided for their inclusion on this page.
  • Another editor has restored the images, stating that the images' fair-use rationale is implied because "this page is covered under 'character pages'".

  • This point is moot. WP:NFCC #8 specifies that non-free media should not be used in list articles. Additionally, there is strong precedent, mainly in the areas of discographies and episode lists, for such a removal. This case is even stronger when there are individual articles about the characters where the images can be used minimally (NFCC #3). (ESkog)(Talk) 05:58, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
  • The removing editor and ESKog are correct on both counts. A fair-use rationale is required for every article in which a nonfree image is used. It is not acceptable to write a single rationale and then use it all over the place, each individual use must have one. There are also no exceptions to this requirement whatsoever, as the editor who reinserted the images seem to think, nor any class of use which is automatically acceptable.   • Agreed, images should be removed on both counts (missing fair use rationale, images are not appropriate to illustrate list items). The images belong, if at all, on the individual article pages for the characters. And they need a separate rationale for each article in which they appear. Wikidemo 10:25, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Copyedit and contradiction

Hi.

  • I've trimmed this down to list format, following advice from the AfD discussion I just closed. Obviously I did it as just another editor, not has a direct consequence of the discussion. Revert or turn into a redir at will.
  • One entry looks odd: «Rhinox: Although never appearing materially in the show, Rhinox appeared several times». Did he "never appeard" or did he "appeared several times"? Maybe he never appeared but was mentioned by others?
