[edit] Channel Renumbering
One thing that bugs me is the order of these channels, because I hardly see a rationale in the ordering. I mean, what does the channel number suppose to mean? It's confusing to me.
They will put RTM 1, RTM 2 and TV3 together in 101 to 103, but leave the other free-to-air channels scattered around. NTV7 will be on 107, 8TV on 708 and TV9 on 107! Gosh... I'm hoping that they will be placed together, as in 119 to 109. Also, why Astro @15 will be relocated to Channel 109? Will it be renamed "Astro @109"? And that's not all, just look at the list and you'll understand.
Of course, I'm looking forward to an improved and sensible three-digit channel list. Hytar 18:29, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
Hey wait....didn't u notice that RTM1, RTM2, TV3 & TV9 are all under Family Package, BUT, NTV7 and 8TV under VARIETY PACKAGE? This is weird. These mentioned channels are free-to-air terrestrial TV. If any subscribers who didn't subscribe to Variety, does it mean they won't be receiving 8TV and NTV7? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tyh27 (talk • contribs) 14:09, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
In case no one has noticed, the new channel numbering follows the primary language for the channel
100+ Bahasa
200+ Tamil/Indian
300+ Chinese
400+ English
Also deals with the appeal of each channel to the market segment it targets. Expediter 15:11, 17 September 2007 (UTC) ps. dont forget to sign ur comments
- Yeah I knew that they did some grouping. However by doing some rough comparison, it's difficult to ignore the "scattering" of channels. Try explaining why NHK World is being thrown to Channel 963. It should be placed in Channel 300+ since it's an East Asian channel.
- I agree that this line-up is better than the previous one. We need time to get used to this change, that's all. But I just have a feeling that they will rearrange some channels anyway. Just to complete the list (IMHO)...:
- 500+ News
- 550+ Learning
- 600+ Fun
- 700+ General Lifestyle
- 710+ Entertainment
- 730+ Specific Lifestyle (?)
- 800+ Sports
- 850+ Radio
- 880+ Interactive Services
- 950+ Pay Per View Services
- About NTV7 and 8TV, I believe they are still in the Family Package. Hytar 21:55, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

Zee TV is a Hindi language channel. Perhaps this could be an exception as it is the only Hindi channel on the Astro platform. Acs4b T C U 10:56, 21 September 2007 (UTC).
[edit] Unnecessary revert
Sorry Expediter, but I feel as if you should not have reverted the edit I made to this list. It doesn't matter if the page might look a little longer, at least it more organised and in correct order. Plus, hence its name (List of Astro Channels), it is actually a list and not an article, as you might have assumed. I would add that edit back to the page for the time-being, but if you feel it is unsuitable or anything, please inform me. If I don't reply in a week or so after you have posted your reply, I'm quite sorry as I have to revise for my upcoming examination. Thank you. Acs4b T C U 10:56, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
- I wonder if it's OK to place the thumbnails of channel icons in this list. I agree it could be quite "unfair" for users of slower computers, but it should give a good view of this line-up. Also, since several channels don't have their own page yet, the users who create these articles will know where to find the channel logo (since the link is provided). I plan to upload/replace most of the Astro and local logos anyway.
- Suggestions? Hytar 19:32, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
- Alright. It's not OK to put lots of non-free images in one article. That's one big lesson I learned. Hytar 19:20, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

India's Raj TV Coming To Malaysia
NEW DELHI, April 24 (Bernama) -- Chennai-based Raj Television Network, a leading Tamil language satellite broadcaster, will soon link up with Astro All Asia Networks plc (Astro) to air its programmes in Malaysia via direct-to-home platform.
Raj Television director M. Ravindran said the channel would go on air once both parties had ironed out the technical details and upon receiving Malaysian government's approval which was likely to be later this year.
Starting as a network in 1994 to provide family entertainment, the fast- growing regional broadcaster plans to enter the Malaysian market with the same concept, offering a genre of family entertainment programmes.
"Malaysia is the second biggest market after Chennai. We will be targeting the family segment because we have the best range of devotional and serials to offer. This will be our thrust and I think there is a big demand for that," Ravindran told Bernama from Chennai.
Raj TV, which boasts of having some of the best programmes from south India's entertainment industry, namely serials, talk shows, games, devotional programmes and news bulletins, is gearing to compete with other Indian channels that are on air in Malaysia.
