[edit] Top Three?
I have never heard or read elsewhere that the term "All-Ireland Champion" applies to any competitor other than the one who was placed first by the adjudicators. What is the source for that assertion? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 143.165.201.47 (talk) 23:09, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Filling the list
This is a bit messy, but as far as I know is the only place in the internet to have all the information together. It is verifiable, but not verified; if someone with links to CCE were to scheck and edit it, that would be great. Most of the information is taken from Earler Hitchner's articles in the Irish Echo. Also, 2004 and 2005 winners haven't been added. Ewjw 19:17, 26 February 2006 (UTC)
- yes i have seen that article in the Echo, this looks like a copy and paste job of it (inclusive of spelling mistakes) - anyway, I reorganised the list so that it is easier to read and edit. Hopefully over the next couple days I should be able to add the latest results since 2003 and also reference the info Beaumontproject 14:45, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
- this looks great! Where else could we look to get more information? Ewjw 14:38, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
- well I have searched the web and many musicians website and Google searches for various phrases to fill it up as much as possible. However, I have come to a dead end at the moment, obviously going into the future it will be easy just to add on the new winners but I fear for the old winners, maybe it will fill up in bits and pieces but the only way to go it to pull out old Treior's of August of 19XX and they may have a list for a year we dont know about - the only other source is to contact CCÉ directly.--Beaumontproject 14:52, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
- I just posted on the session asking for help, hoping that will, well, help Ewjw 17:57, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Tin Whistle
Has anyone got a list of the various tin whistle champions and the breakdown of the various champion for the different styles - slow air, reels etc
[edit] typo?
Is that really Patsy Hauly or is it Patsy Hanly, who appears on the "Flute Players of Roscommon" CD? I haven't seen the list but it seems more likely to be Hanly to me. Wbajzek 20:17, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
- It was Patsy Hanley.--Beaumontproject 14:52, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Sean Maguire
Sean Maguire never won the all-ireland? All those albums like "champion of champions", "2 champions sean maguire and joe burke," lead me to believe he did. The Sean Maguire website says he won the "All Ireland Oireachtas Fiddle Championship" in 1949, but maybe that's not the same competition. I can't figure out if it is or not on the net so far.
- Oireachtas is definitely a different championship, and is older than the CCE. I don't know where to find out about that, although I do know Josephine Keegan won too. Ewjw 14:53, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Typo - Fiddle Slow Airs
Also, seems to be a typo in the "Fiddle - Slow airs (Fidil/Veidhlín - Foinn Mhalla)" section:
1993, Frances Donahue, Loughmore, County Tipperary
I think should be:
1993, Frances Nesbitt, Loughmore, County Tipperary
...Frances Nesbitt won the Fiddle Slow Airs title three years in a row.
...actually, made a typo myself!!
should be:
1983 - 85, Frances Nesbitt, Loughmore, County Tipperary
unless there is in fact a Francis Donahue from Loughmore who won the competition in 1993 ???
