Talk:List of Afrikaners
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
[edit] Not compliant
The classification of someone as "Afrikaner" is disputed (see Afrikaner and it's Talk page) especially for in current circumstances where it is not scientific. Many of these classifications do not meet the Wikipedia requirements of verifiability (see Wikipedia:Verifiability). --Deon Steyn 06:38, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Woltemade
I have removed Wolraad Woltemade fro the list, because as German immigrant (born in Schaumburg) he can hardly be classified as an Afrikaner even in the strictest interpretation applied at that time (18th century). --Deon Steyn 09:10, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] J.M. Coetzee
Removed J.M. Coetzee as his first language is English [1], [2] and apparently speaking Afrikaans as a first language (along with being of "european ancestry" is one of the few cireteria for classifiying someone as "Afrikaner". --Deon Steyn 09:24, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
