Talk:List of African American mathematicians

[edit] Distressingly short list
By reading this page, one could reasonably draw the conclusion that there are precisely three living African-American mathematicians, none under 80 years of age.
This is quite false (there are, arguably, too few African-American mathematicians, but there are lots more than three!). I wish to question the merits of a page which serves to give an untruthfully discouraging impression of the current state of affairs: who benefits? Plclark 03:16, 29 September 2007 (UTC)Plclark
- I started the article because someone else requested it. Presumably it benefits curious people, and it fulfills a role that isn't really well suited for a category. There is a danger that readers will get the wrong impression, which can be mitigated by expanding the list. Melchoir (talk) 08:53, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
