Talk:List of A-League champions

[edit] Merge
I propose merging the champions and premiers lists. The two honours are very similar (each determined at the end of an A-League season). The League has been running for such a short time that articles will remain very short for a considerable amount of time. With pre-season cups, champions, premiers, and the mini-World Club Championship qualifier league before the main season last year, there should be enough information there to fill out a single article very nicely. -- Chuq 06:31, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
Support. I would also support a mergining of the NSL titles as well - perhaps into an Australia Football Championship page.Tancred 10:18, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
- Sounds like a good idea, but we would have to call it "Australian football (soccer) championships" or something similar, to prevent the expected complaints. It's probably best just to have one for NSL and one for A-League -- Chuq 12:31, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
Support. No need for two pages. -- Wantok 04:00, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
Support. I'm also liking the one 'Australian Champions' page idea. -[dM] 05:25, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
Half-support. Don't like the "Australian champions" idea, as the NSL and the A-League are completely distinct entities. Do like the idea of one list with both premiers and champions, though. Maybe something like this:
Season | Champions | Runners-Up | Premiers | Runners-Up |
---|---|---|---|---|
2006-07 | Melbourne Victory (1) | Adelaide United | Melbourne Victory (1) | Adelaide United |
2005-06 | Sydney FC (1) | Central Coast Mariners | Adelaide United (1) | Sydney FC |
