[edit] another pic

Someone who is good at capturing pics should include the map on this page: [[1]]. Do it soon, since the EQs start expiring off the map after 7 days. 68.73.94.131 (talk) 06:31, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

Done. Does "77 earthquakes" mean there are actually 76 earthquakes? despite this article says there are 74. -- Taku (talk) 06:48, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
Thanks! 77 EQs means the first major EQ and 76 aftershocks are shown on the map (though most plots are obscured by others). I guess the list on this page does not list them all. A better link for a table of the EQ and aftershocks than the one given is here: [[2]], though it has the same problem of EQs expiring from the page after 7 days. I'll go through it later when I have time to see what is missing... unless someone beats me to it :) 68.73.94.131 (talk) 06:56, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for the answer, but I figured this myself, as you might notice from my edit. I added two that seemed to be missing. -- Taku (talk) 08:02, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for finding the missing two. I knew they were missing but I couldn't find them and another thanks for helping out with the list and making it better. Cyclonebiskit (talk) 18:05, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Duration

Once the main earthquake hits, structural integrity is often compromised to the point where the duration and frequency of the aftershocks has a significant effect on civil damages. It would be a nice addition to add the approximate duration of the quake and its aftershocks.--Sparkygravity (talk) 11:50, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

I don't see why not. The only issue here is how to find sources. -- Taku (talk) 12:41, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

I'm not sure what the procedure is, there were reports, but I was in Lanzhou. One of my students in the classroom, and my wife, in my apartment actually timed the earthquake in excess of two minutes. I recall reports 'exceeding two minutes' 'almost three minutes' Randy Higgins —Preceding unsigned comment added by 117.101.128.228 (talk) 14:06, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] yet another pic

The USGS has a pic showing all the > 4.0 aftershocks up to May 28 here: [3]. Someone good at manipulating pics for wikiped may want to grab it and put it up on this page. 68.73.94.131 (talk) 19:02, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
