This list of universities in Ontario summarizes postsecondary educational institutions with degree-granting authority in the Canadian province of Ontario. In total, there are twenty-one public universities and seventeen privately funded institutions. Each of these institutions were either established through an Act of the Legislative Assembly or through a Royal Charter. The earliest university was established in 1827 while the Ontario legislature established the most recent university on June 27, 2002.[1]

There are 21 universities in the Canadian province of Ontario.[2] All of the institutions listed here are public universities. The largest university in terms of enrollment is the University of Toronto, which is composed of campuses in three locations: Mississauga, Scarborough, and Downtown Toronto (St. George Campus).[3] The oldest school is also the University of Toronto, founded in 1827.[4]
