The list of shipwrecks in 2006 includes all ships sunk, foundered, grounded, or otherwise lost during 2006.

- Kleine Familie ( France): Trawler which sank off the coast of Alderney. (BBC News report)

- Greenhill ( United Kingdom): Fishing boat from Northern Ireland which sank near Ardglass harbour, County Down. (BBC News report)

The tanker Ece, registered in Malta, sank while being towed toward Le Havre, after having collided with the freighter General Grot-Rowecki about 50km (30 miles) north-west of Guernsey. The Ece sank near the site of the collision, in 70m (230ft) of water, 90km (56 miles) west of Cap de La Hague. (BBC News report)

- Al Salam Boccaccio 98 ( Egypt - El Salam Maritime Transport): Passenger ferry which sank in the Red Sea en route from Saudi Arabia to Egypt.

- Runner 4: Cargo ship carrying aluminium sank in the Gulf of Finland when another ship collided into it while both were in a convoy escorted by a Russian icebreaker.

- Teklivka: Cargo ship sunk in the Mediterranean near Port Said, Egypt in a storm.

- Hyundai Fortune ( South Korea - Hyundai): Container ship damaged by fire in the Gulf of Aden near Yemen. Later towed to port.

- Queen of the North ( Canada): Large passenger ferry which sank off the north coast of British Columbia, Canada after running aground.

- Al Dana: Passenger dhow which sank in the Persian Gulf near Bahrain.
- Sea Master ( India): Fishing vessel which sank in the Arabian Sea near Panaji, India.

- M/T Solar I( Philippines): An oil tanker sinks off the coast off Guimaras province, causing the Guimaras oil spill, the worst in the history of the country.
