• S-178  Russia rammed and sunk by Refrizkerator-13  Russia in Golden Horn Bay. Thirty one crew killed.

• Lifeboat Solomon Browne  United Kingdom lost whilst attempting to rescue the crew of the Union Star  Ireland. 8 crew lost on each vessel.
