The list of shipwrecks in 1939 includes all ships sunk, foundered, grounded, or otherwise lost during 1939.

  • SS Alba ran aground at Porthmeor Beach. All 24 crew rescued, but five later drowned when the lifeboat capsized.[1]
  • SS Wilston ran aground at Wicca Bay, Pendeen. All crew lost.[1]

  • SS Paris Flag of France France Caught fire and capsized in St. Nazaire harbour. Scrapping did not occur for almost a decade due to World War Two.

  • HMS Thetis sank whilst on trials, 99 crew killed. Salvaged, recommissioned as HMS Thunderbolt, sunk by Italian corvette Cicogna on 14 March 1943 with loss of all hands.
