- SS Farallon United States sank in Cook Inlet, Alaska. Crew survived for a month on an island until rescued.

- SS Minnehaha United Kingdom ran aground on rocks in the Isles of Scilly. Refloated on May 13 and returned to service after repairs were made.

- Four masted schooner James Rolph United States rang aground in San Pablo Bay, near San Francisco. No lives lost, ship later stripped of salvageable components and abandoned.

- Schooner Olympe United Kingdom beached at Gunwallow Church Cove, Cornwall.[1]

- Preussen Germany rammed by SS Brighton United Kingdom in English Channel off Dover, and then beached without loss of life.
