List of professional paintball teams

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is a list of notable professional paintball teams. A professional paintball team is one that plays paintball with the financial, equipment or other kind of support of one or more sponsors, often in return for advertising rights. Several professional teams have different names in different leagues due to franchising and sponsorship issues.

[edit] Professional Tournament teams

Teams that compete in both NPPL and NXL leagues

  • Golden State Ironmen (Formerly LA)
  • Oakland/Los Angeles Infamous
  • Pittsburgh/Philly All-Americans
  • Portland/Seattle Naughty Dogs
  • San Diego Dynasty
  • Tampa Bay Damage
  • Edmonton Impact
  • Chicago Aftershock (spot given to them by Stockholm Joy)
  • Escondito Aftermath (Formerly San Diego)
  • St Louis Avalanche
  • X-Factor
  • Orange County Bushwackers

Teams that compete in NPPL only

  • Jersey Authority (Made up of mostly Russian Legion players)
  • New England Hurricanes (New York Hurricanes dropped out of the NXL)
  • Miami Rage
  • Sacramento XSV
  • Oakland Blast (team [as San Diego Legacy] withdrew from NXL and currently only competes in NPPL)

Teams that compete in NXL only

Note: More teams recently have decided to play NPPL only due to the fact paintball businesses are in recession, and funding to many pro teams have been largely cut. An entry fee for one NXL event is 5,000 dollars. The NXL has seen many bottom level pro teams drop over the middle of last season and in the off-season, such as: Las Vegas Less Than Zero (LTZ), San Diego Legacy, New York Hurricanes, Sacramento XSV, and Baltimore Trauma. Teams like the Ironmen, Dynasty, All-Americans and Infamous can play both leagues because they are the banner franchise of successful companies (Ironmen is the banner team for Dye Paintball, All-Americans is the flagship team for Smart-Parts,Inc., Dynasty for JT, and Infamous is the Empire team), thus heavily funded.
