[edit] Oldest Test cricketers on debut
James Southerton (England, born 16 November 1827, debut 15 March 1877) was the oldest cricketer to make his Test debut, at the age of 49 years, 119 days. Southerton was also the first Test cricketer to die.

Note: The oldest person to make his first-class debut as well as to play first-class cricket was Raja Maharaj Singh at the age of 72. Jim Laker bowled him out for 4 runs in a Bombay Governor's XI against a Commonwealth XI on 25 November 1950.[5]
