In 2007, the Mayor of Renfrew, Ontario was Sandra J. Heins. Current council holds office until November, 2010 [1]. In 2002, Heins signed a declaration put forward by the Renfrew Chamber of Commerce that Renfrew would be considered the birthplace of the National Hockey League [2].
