(*) Note: From 1911-1985, Mobile was governed by a City Commission, and during that time, the position of Mayor was the Presidency of the Commission, which rotated between Commission members. Numerous problems arose from the Commission form of government, including a number of indictments and convictions of certain Commissioners in the 1980s.
