A section of this rail bed has been preserved as a nature walk, locally known as "the valley." Today, the spirits of those who perished are still attempting to rescue those stopped in the same spot they were.

  • Honolulu, Hawaii: Acid Hill, Poola St, off Kalanianaole Hwy East Oahu before Kuaiwi Place below Ancient Hawaiian Heiau: Before residential expansion, this area was a cul de sac and was much easier to test. Legend has it that the Ancient Hawaiian spirits of the Heiau help move the car.

  • San Antonio, Texas: At the corner of Villamain and Shane Roads. Travel west on Shane Road to a flat area before a railroad track just east of the right turn onto Villamain. Putting the car in neutral which will cause the car to roll up and over the railroad tracks. Urban legend has it that the ghosts of children killed at the intersection are pushing the car over the tracks, and that powdering the back of the car will reveal their handprints. When performing this experiment, any handprints that might appear were probably already there; the powder allowed them to show up. This area is known as the Ghost Tracks to locals, and the subdivision adjacent to it supposedly has its streets named after the children who died on the tracks in a schoolbus accident with a train in that spot. It is a popular place to take a date on Halloween night. Traffic backs up for half a mile waiting their turn over the tracks. [72]

[edit] Tennessee

[edit] Utah

  • Salt Lake City, Utah: A few blocks northeast of the Capitol building in Salt Lake City. Several internet sources say that the hill is northwest of the Capitol building, but it is in fact just northeast. Driving up past the capitol building, with the capitol to the driver's west, there is a small road (Bonneville Blvd.) that loops around a park in lower City Creek Canyon called Memory Grove. The road forms a large "U" and comes out at a nearly equal elevation on the other side of the canyon in a part of town known as "The Avenues" at the intersection of 11th. Avenue and B Street. Unfortunately, what used to be a two-way road was recently converted into a one way street, which goes the opposite direction of the way needed to experience the "paranormal effects" of the gravity hill. However, going the way the road now requires does produce a weird effect. It appears that the car is going downhill while actually gaining in elevation from the valley floor. Although Bonneville Blvd. may be a one-way road, a bicycle can be ridden in either direction.[73]
