Throughout the course of Naughty Dog's fictional Jak and Daxter videogame series, there have been many locations mentioned or explored. They can primarily be divided into two categories: the old world, set at the time of Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, and the new world, set at the time of Daxter onwards.

[edit] The Old World
304 years ago, the world of Jak and Daxter was much more primitive. There were no large cities, only small villages. People lived simple, happier lives. The four sages governed the powers of the mysterious substance known as eco, and all anyone had to worry about was their jobs. However, that all changed when Gol and Maia, the Dark Sages, turned mad and tried to flood the world with deadly Dark Eco. A hero from 300 years in the future, Jak, and his best friend Daxter, managed to defeat Gol and Maia, but they discovered a mysterious Rift Gate soon afterwards. Vicious creatures called Metal Heads came into the world and they eventually destroyed the old world.
[edit] Sandover Village
The largest village seen in Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, and also the home of Samos, Keira, Jak and Daxter. Samos' hut sat on a plinth of rock high above the waves, and it even managed to survive through Jak II, albeit heavily damaged. The village was powered by an eco-powered windmill, which received eco from the nearby Forbidden Jungle. Other inhabitants of Sandover Village included the Sculptor, Ollie the Fisherman, Jak's Uncle, Tweetledov Perch, Mayor Manac, and Farmer Zeb. Sandover Village is also home to the Oracle. Sandover Village in the future is Dead Town.
[edit] Geyser Rock
This small island is mostly uninhabited by living things, so Samos uses it as a training ground, placing test dummies all over it. The eponymous geyser from which the island is named is colossal, and its jets of water can be seen from the coast of the mainland. Before journeying to find Gol (so Jak could transform Daxter back into a "human"), they are sent to Geyser Rock to get some practice adventuring.
[edit] Forbidden Jungle
This jungle is very dangerous and is considered off-limits by many. At the heart of the jungle lies the Forbidden Temple, which is home to many secrets, including the deadly Dark Eco Plant. Ollie the Fisherman often came to the Forbidden Jungle to fish in the river that flows through the area. A Blue Eco vent switch is located within the temple. In the future, the Forbidden Jungle becomes the Haven Forest and the Precursor Temple.
[edit] Misty Island
A large island to the far south, permanently covered in a thick layer of fog. A massive Dark Eco silo is located here, so the Lurkers maintained a strong presence here and even built a headquarters on the island. Samos strictly forbade Jak and Daxter from going to the island, but they failed to heed his advice, and it was where Daxter was transformed into an Ottsel after being knocked into a Dark Eco pool by Jak (in the prologue, Samos referred the duo's first visit to Misty Island as a "small act of disobedience"). Misty Island contains the first of the three Dark Eco Silos in the Old World (although compared to the others, this is extremely small).
[edit] Sentinel Beach
Stretching to the west of Sandover Village, this beach was dotted with ancient Precursor monuments called sentinels, which looked out over the sea. Samos had several Green Eco harvesters to the far west side of the beach, which collected Green Eco as it came forth from Green Eco Vents.
[edit] Fire Canyon
This canyon, connecting Sandover Village and Rock Village, is filled with lava so hot, it could even melt Precursor metal (although, there are a few outcroppings of Precursor metal, used as platforms to reach certain items). The only way across is by A-Grav Zoomer, with a heat shield equipped. Usually, travellers between the villages chose the easier way and used teleporter gates. However, because the teleporters were in disuse by the time that the game starts, Jak and Daxter must traverse this canyon to reach the next location.
[edit] Rock Village
Rock Village is the second village in the Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy. Klaww attacked the village with flaming rocks before he was defeated by Jak after collecting enough Power Cells. This is the second largest and only other village that Jak visits in the Old World. All of the dwellings here are built into the side of the sheer rock face in the centre of the bay. Some of the inhabitants were the Geologist, the Gambler, the blue sage before he was captured, and the warrior. Rock Village is also home to the Oracle.
[edit] Precursor Basin
The Precursor Basin is home to various things. One of the most notable are the lightning moles. These animals are blind and heavily rely on their hearing for survival. A green eco vent is also housed here. Jak will use it to kill some dark eco plants by the request of Samos. The final thing that is located here is a race track. Beat the record for the gambler and he will reward you with a Power Cell.
[edit] Lost Precursor City
This city is located right in the water of Rock Village. Jak ventures here to raise a chamber. Although the blue sage tries to do this, he never accomplishes this. Jak is successful in doing this using blue eco. After raising the chamber, Keira says, "Wow! You've used eco in ways we've never even dreamt before.". This city also contains one of the three known dark eco silos in the Old World.
[edit] Boggy Swamp
The Boggy Swamp is located on the outskirts of Rock Village. The lurkers have set up a blimp over top of the swamp. They have four tethers attached to it trying to pull up a precursor robot arm from a tar pit. A hillbilly named Boggy Billy and his hip hog(a smallish combo of a hippo and a hog) Farthy live in the swamp.
[edit] Mountain Pass
This pass is full of explosives. If you hit just one of the big ones, then Jak gets blown up. There are four Power Cells in the pass, one of which requires activation of a yellow eco vent (or a lucky jump on foot) to acquire. The mountain pass will lead you to the Volcanic Crater. The mountain pass is also the last area in the Rock Village region.
[edit] Volcanic Crater
The Volcanic Crater is the last village type area before Gol and Maia's citadel. The Volcanic Crater is the hub area to Spider Cave, Lava Tube, and Snowy Mountain. Gordy and Willard are also located in this area. They are in a large tunnel with an even larger diamond. They will give you four power cells for 90 orbs each. There is also a hard to get power cell in this area, requiring fast reflexes. There is also a lift to the Snowy Mountain here. The Volcanic Crater is also home to the final Oracle.
[edit] Snowy Mountain
The Snowy Mountain is home to the main power switch for yellow eco vents. There is a lurker fortress located up here as well. To get into it you will need a Flut Flut. There are also many switches to deactivate for a Power Cell. The lurkers up here are a different breed, geared toward protection from the ice. A yellow eco vent switch is located in an ice cave here.
[edit] Spider Cave
Spider Cave's name suits it perfectly. There are very plentiful yellow eco vents scattered throughout. This level is home to a large Precursor robot, which the Lurkers are attempting to dig up. The Spider Caves are full of Dark Eco fitting Gordy's calling them the 'Dark Caves.
[edit] Lava Tube
This is the final and the longest of the five A-Grav Zoomer levels. It takes you through a tunnel that takes you underground to Gol and Maia's Citadel. It contains a lot of yellow eco to use, scout flies, large dark eco barrels that you must destroy or dodge, and of course lava. It is most likely used to transport lava out of Volcanic Crater due to the "sewer" like end. It is possible this tube became the basis for the Haven City Sewers.
[edit] Gol and Maia's Citadel
Gol and Maia's Citadel is the final level. You will meet all the sages here: the Blue Sage, the Yellow Sage, Samos(Green Sage), and the Red Sage. They have all been captured to make it easier for the Precursor Robot to open the Dark Eco silos. You must traverse through three obstacle courses before you can take on Gol and Maia on the roof.
[edit] Dark Eco Silos
Gol and Maia use the Precursor Robot to battle Jak and Daxter in the final boss battle on top of the Dark Eco Silos where Light Jak first appears. This is also the final of the three known Dark Eco Silos in the Old World
[edit] The New World
300 years after the Metal Heads first entered the world through the Rift Gate, much has changed in the world. The legendary hero Mar built Haven City to protect the people and the Precursor Stone from the Metal Heads, and the world is much more crowded and technology-oriented. Haven City is almost permanently being fought over between different factions due to its central location and historical importance.
[edit] Haven City
Built by the hero Mar to protect both his people and the Precursor Stone from the Metal Heads, Haven City is a bustling metropolis that is at the centre of many important events. Divided into several regions itself, it could be described as a world within a world; most of its citizens never venture outside of its walls. The "Dead Town" area of the city is partially built on the former site of Sandover Village.
[edit] Kras City
A large coastal city, which is famous for being home to several crime bosses and its dangerous combat racing sport. Much of the city is made up of docks and harbours, but the city centre does feature several stadiums, bars, and other places of interest. Mizo and Krew both had strong connections in the city, making it a very dangerous place to live up until Mizo's defeat by Jak in Jak X: Combat Racing.
[edit] Spargus City
Spargus City is a city full of those banished to the Wasteland by Baron Praxis, the previous ruler of Haven City. It was carved in a mountain, and Damas is its monarch. Spargus has two landmarks: the Arena "of Death" (as Pecker describes it), which tests newcomers' abilities, and Damas' Palace, but as of the end of Jak 3, it seems that Sig is now king. It is located in the Wasteland.
[edit] Metal Head Nest
The Metal Head Nest was the massive nest built by the Metal Heads. Located near Haven City, the nest was the size of a small mountain, and could be seen from the Palace in Haven City. The nest is surrounded by the remains of previous assaults; Baron Praxis once led an assault where he lost an eye. Mar created a massive energy weapon that was powered by the Precursor Stone. When Jak got in by the weapon and he faced the metal head leader, Kor, and killed him. the nest was never used again. The nest presumably is the remains of the original dark eco silos, where the original Hora-quan nested to fight the Precursors. The nest still appears to exist at the beginning of Jak 3, as it is briefly visible during the game's opening; however, it is unknown whether it is still used by the Metal Heads at this time.
[edit] The Wasteland
The Wasteland is a huge desert outside Haven City & Spargus City. It can be seen from The Palace or The Floating Krimzon War Factory, it is next to the Haven Forest and the large snowy mountains behind it. If you are up in the palace, you can see the ocean on one side and the mountains and The Wasteland on the other. The Wasteland is notably the largest place in the series. Most of the time spent in The Wasteland is for missions retrieving artifacts or traveling to the temple. The Wasteland is inhabited by many hooligans that will try to kill Jak with their machine guns. To get around in The Wasteland you use cars and buggies, most of the vehicles have a machine gun or grenade launcher equipped. The final boss battle of Jak 3 is fought in The Wasteland.
