This page lists diplomatic missions resident in the Bhutan. For much of its existence, Bhutan has pursued a policy of self-imposed isolation in order to preserve its traditional way of life. The Kingdom, by its own choice, maintains diplomatic relations with only 21 countries and the European Union. Reflecting this, the capital of Thimpu hosts only two embassies.
