List of banks in Iceland

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

There are five principal commercial banks banks of Iceland: Glitnir, Kaupþing, Landsbanki, Straumur Investment Bank and Icebank which serves as a clearing house for the locally run savings banks. The major banks are listed on Kauphöll Íslands, the Icelandic Stock Exchange (ICEX), although each was wholly or partially state-owned in the past.

No foreign banks operate in Iceland due to the long distances and relatively small economy.[citation needed]
