This is a list of acquisitions by Symantec, a computer software company founded on March 1, 1982.[1] Symantec is an international corporation that specializes in selling security and information management software.[2] It is also listed on the NASDAQ 100 and Fortune 1000.[3]
Symantec's largest acquisition as of April 2008 is the merger of VERITAS Software, a data storage company, for US$13.5 billion.[4] The majority of the companies acquired by Symantec are based in the United States. 52 companies have been acquired as of April 2008.
The acquisition date listed is the date of the agreement between Symantec and the subject of the acquisition. The value of each acquisition is listed in US$ because Symantec is based in the United States. If the value of an acquisition is not listed, then it is undisclosed.
