List of acquisitions by Microsoft
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This is a list of acquisitions by Microsoft, a computer software company founded on April 4, 1975.[1] Each acquisition is for the respective company in its entirety. The acquisition date listed is the date of the agreement between Microsoft and the subject of the acquisition. The value of each acquisition is listed in US$ because Microsoft is headquartered in the United States. If the value of an acquisition is not listed, then it is undisclosed. If the Microsoft product that is derived from the acquired company is known, then it is also listed.
Microsoft's largest acquisition as of April 2008 is the purchase of aQuantive, a digital marketing company, on May 18, 2007 for $6 billion. The majority of the companies acquired by Microsoft are based in the United States. A total of 118 companies have been acquired as of April 2008.
