List of Zero no Tsukaima episodes

This is a list of episodes of animation produced for the Japanese series Zero no Tsukaima. Note that none of the English translations are official titles.

In 2006, the first season, entitled Zero no Tsukaima (ゼロの使い魔? lit. The Familiar of Zero), was produced by the Japanese animation studio J.C. Staff and directed by Yoshiaki Iwasaki. The series contained thirteen episodes which aired between July 3 and September 25 on a number of Japanese television networks, including but not limited to, Chiba TV, and TV Kanagawa. The story follows several characters from the second year class of a magic academy in a fictional magical world with the main character being the inept mage Louise and her familiar from Earth, Saito Hiraga.

In 2007, the second season, entitled Zero no Tsukaima: Futatsuki no Kishi (ゼロの使い魔 ~双月の騎士~? lit. The Familiar of Zero: Knight of the Two Moons), was produced by the same team as with the first season. The series contained twelve episodes which aired in Japan between July 9 and September 24 on several Japanese television networks, such as Sun TV, TV Aichi, and TV Saitama.

In 2008, the third season, entitled Zero no Tsukaima: Princesses no Rondo, will feature thirteen episodes and is produced by the same team as the first two seasons. The series will begin as early as July 2008.

Despite being from a famous magic family, Louise has never been able to successfully cast a single spell. On the day of her familiar summoning exam, she bungles the summoning and accidentally summons a human from Earth. The poor victim of her mistake is Saito Hiraga, a typical high school boy. 
02 "The Commoner Familiar"
"Heimin no Tsukaima" (平民の使い魔) 
2006-07-10
An abrupt departure from the normal life he once lead, Saito must deal with being Louise's familiar. Unhappy with the arrogance of nobles, Saito exposes Guiche's two-timing nature as an act of revenge. This of course, provokes Guiche into challenging him to a a duel. Despite being severely beaten up by Guiche's magic, Saito refuses to bow down. Impressed, Guiche tosses him a sword to even up the playing field. In a completely unexpected turn of events, the runes etched on Saito's hands begin to glow the moment he grasps the sword. Feeling a surge of energy, Saito manages to defeat Guiche. However, he soon collapses after the fight from fatigue. 
03 "The Subtle Heat's Allure"
"Binetsu no Yūwaku" (微熱の誘惑)

With his recent victory over Guiche, Saito has become semi-popular among the commoners and several nobles. Kirche in particular has chosen him as her next boyfriend. In a devious plan, she attempts to seduce him, although this fails when Louise finds out. Annoyed by Saito's lack of defenses, Louise drags him out to town to pick up a sword after considering his hidden talents. Kirche, unwilling to let go so easily, matches Louise's gift with a more impressive sword. Of course, it simply causes more problems between Saito and Louise. 
04 "The Maid's Crisis"
"Meido no Kiki" (メイドの危機)

Siesta is sold to a royal family from out of town, presumably to be a mistress to the head noble. Disgusted by the lack of regard that nobles have for commoners, Saito tries his best to rescue her, but with no avail. As Saito attempts to take on the noble by fighting, Louise and the others arrive just in time to prevent Saito's death. In an act of kindness, Kirche gives up her family treasure to make up for Saito's actions and win Siesta back. Before leaving the manor, Saito catches a glimpse of the family treasure, and is shocked to find that it is in actuality a rather old porno magazine from Earth. 
05 "The Princess of Tristain"
"Torisutein no Himegimi" (トリステインの姫君)

The yearly familiar exhibition is literally a day away and Louise is feeling rather depressed about it. Not only does Saito have nothing impressive to show off, but this year the Princess is watching as well, making it even more important. As night approaches, desperation sets in as Saito is unable to produce an act worthy of praise. A sudden mystery visitor turns out to be Princess Henrietta herself and her relationship with Louise is explained. The next day, Saito attempts a presentation only to be dragged off early by Louise. Walking away from the stage, they witness a robbery in progress by Fouquet and her earthen golem. Failing to stop her, Fouquet is able to run off with the fabled Staff of Destruction. 
06 "The Thief's True Identity"
"Tōzoku no Shōtai" (盗賊の正体)

Worried that the princess may be blamed for Fouquet's theft, Louise volunteers to go out and catch her. With Kirche, Tabitha, and Saito tagging along, they travel to the last sighting of Fouquet with Longueville. There, they discover the hiding place of the Staff of Destruction only to have Fouquet's golem appear. Wishing to show her worth, Louise tries to take it head on with a spell, nearly being crushed in the process. Only by Saito's quick reflexes is she saved. Her confidence broken, Louise breaks into tears. Saito is moved by this and begins attacking the golem in her name. After discarding Kirche's sword and drawing Derflinger, the runes on his hands glow once again and his ability greatly increases. Louise tries to help by taking out the Staff of Destruction, which turns out to be a "M72 Light Anti-tank Weapon system(LAWs)" rocket launcher from Vietnam War. Immediately recognizing it, Saito grabs it and quickly uses it, blowing up the golem. Longueville claims the rocket launcher afterwards, revealing herself to be Fouquet. Yet she is unable to use it as it only had one shot, giving the gang a chance to capture her. 
07 "Louise's Part-Time Job"
"Ruizu no Arubaito" (ルイズのアルバイト)

Having been concerned for the welfare of the commoners, Henrietta asks Louise and Saito to work undercover and figure out if what nobles are taking advantage of the lesser ranked commoners. Louise ends up wasting all of the money given to her for the mission on gambling in hopes of having enough to afford an expensive hotel. Refusing to ask for more money, Louise ends up working in a bar as a waitress. Unused to the brashness of a commoner's life, she is unable to earn any tips with her temper flaring all over the place. Her moment of salvation comes when a rather arrogant noble decides to enter the bar. 
08 "Tabitha's Secret"
"Tabasa no Himitsu" (タバサの秘密)

It's summer vacation and many students are traveling back to their families. Kirche goes along with Tabitha to her home on invitation, leaving Louise and Saito alone for once. However, mischief is still plentiful. Upset at Guiche's continued flirting with other girls, Montmorency creates a love potion and plots to have Guiche take it. Meanwhile, Saito obtains a large pot that was about to be thrown away and converts it into a makeshift hot tub, similar to the hot springs in Japan. While bathing in it at night, Siesta happens to pass by and much to Saito's embarrassment joins him. Seeing this, Louise becomes so frustrated that she interrupts Montmorency's plans by gulping the drink laced with the before mentioned love potion. As can be expected, when Saito returns to her room, Louise falls completely in love, causing many more problems. 
09 "Louise's Change of Heart"
"Ruizu no Henshin" (ルイズの変心)

The lovey-dovey antics of Louise under the love potion persist to the point of freaking Saito out. In desperation, Saito demands that Montmorency create an antidote. She refuses to do so until Saito learns of the illegality of creating love potions and threatens her with possible arrest. As the antidote requires the tears of a water elemental, Montmorency leads Saito and Louise to Lake Lagdorian. There, they find Kirche, Tabitha, and a whole new problem. 
10 "The Princess' Request"
"Himegimi no Irai" (姫君の依頼) 
2006-09-04
Having taken care of the love potion, a new problem arises again. This time, Princess Henrietta is to be wed to the Emperor of Germania for the sake of backing up the smaller country with a stronger power. In order to do so, a certain letter the princess sent to Prince Wales of Albion. If it is ever publicly revealed then the marriage would be impossible. At the moment, Albion is in a state of civil war, so Henrietta herself cannot see the prince. Therefore, Louise is sent with a message to Prince Wales requesting that the letter be retrieved. Guiche then enters, revealing that he had "accidentally" heard it all and would be willing to aid the princess. Much to both Louise and Saito's ire, Henrietta accepts Guiche's offer. On the day of departure, the escort arrives and is revealed to be Wardes, Louise's fiancé. A growing jealousy develops in Saito on the way to the port city of La Rochelle. 
11 "Louise's Marriage"
"Ruizu no Kekkon" (ルイズの結婚)

With the arrival of Wardes and Louise alone, they meet up with Prince Wales in a seemingly deserted church. After finishing up business, Wardes suggests to Louise that they should just get married right then. Confused and repulsed by the idea, Louise tries to refuse his offer, but one of Wardes' allies comes out with a mind-control ring, forcing her into agreeing. With the Prince as the minister, the marriage proceeds and is nearly completed until Saito bursts into the church. Snapping Louise out of her trance, Saito rushes to rescue her. In response, Wardes kills Prince Wales, revealing that he is in fact involved with the rebels fighting the government Albion called Reconquista. 
12 "The Zero Secret Treasure"
"Zero no Hihō" (ゼロの秘宝) 
2006-09-18
The gang has located a rare dragon, which Siesta's family has kept a map. It turns out to be a Mitsubishi Zero-sen, a Japanese aircraft use in World War II. They bring it back to the school. Colbert said someone earlier used another aircraft to fly during the solar eclipse and disappeared. Saito concluded that the person returned home and this is his chance for him to return home also. 
13 "Louise of the Void"
"Kyomu no Ruizu" (虚無のルイズ) 
2006-09-25
The enemy is starting attack villages and another solar eclipse is about to happen. The empire has formed an army with Louise and Guiche to avert the attack. Saito finds out and uses the plane to come to their aid, but he has to give up his chance to return home. He was able to use the machine gun to eliminate most of the enemy, but ran out of ammo and couldn't take down Wardes. Louise unlocks her magic, destroying the entire enemy force. After the battle, the solar eclipse is over and the plane is nearly destroyed. Saito ends up staying.

Louise tries to prevent Saito from looking at other girls, but her plan fails. The newly crowned Queen Henrietta assigns the code name 'Zero' to Louise for a mission. When they get home Louise insists she tell him about the misunderstanding that Agnes said. When he tried to explain she beat him until morning causing bruises all over his body. The next morning, Saito and Louise are informed that Henrietta has been kidnapped. 
02 "The Vow of Wind and Water"
"Kaze to Mizu no Chikai" (風と水の誓い) 
2007-07-16
The supposedly dead Wales appears and takes Henrietta to Albion. He uses his vow from their earlier days to convince her into following him. Saito and Louise goes to rescue Henrietta. Wales, later revealed to be revived and controlled by Cromwell's ring, is defeated by Louise with a dispel spell. Wales is released from the control of the ring and asks Henrietta to make a new vow with him before dying again. 
03 "The Paladin's Sword"
"Seishokusha no Ken" (聖職者の剣) 
2007-07-23
Julio Cesare transfers to Louise's school and shows an interest in her. He challenges Saito to a fight in which the winner gets to kiss Louise. Saito receives special training from Agnès but Louise shows up and attacks Saito in a jealous rage yet again. He fights against Julio the next day, but Julio loses on purpose. 
04 "The Three Vallière Sisters"
"Variēru no Sanshimai" (ヴァリエールの三姉妹) 
2007-07-30
Eléonore drags Louise, Saito, and Siesta back to the Vallière house, where Louise is announced to be engaged to a duke. Saito goes to talk to her at night but instead finds her sister who beats him like Louise does. Saito confesses his true feelings to Louise, makes out with her in a childhood boat, fights his way out of the Vallière residence, and heads back to school with Louise. She doesn't believe him about what happened in an earlier incident and beats him again while Siesta tells herself she is the only one for Saito. 
05 "The Spy's Seal"
"Kanchō no Kokuin" (間諜の刻印) 
2007-08-06
Louise's sisters move in and make Saito do the work. Siesta makes a pass at Saito when Louise shows up. Just when Louise was about to strike him with a newer whip an explosion happens. A thief stole something from the principal's office and the principal marked the woman with a magic seal on her chest. Saito tries to do it secretly but Louise finds him and tries to hurt him again. Then a commotion in her eldest sister room gets their attention. The thief is found out and when everything is done and over with because Saito didn't tell her what he was ordered to do along with other things that was justifiable she beats him with her new whip out of spite. 
06 "The Queen's Vacation"
"Joō no Kyūjitsu" (女王の休日)

Saito and Louise are ordered to be at Scarron's inn to receive further instructions. They take their previous positions and costumes back, and are surprised by Julio's appearance. Saito runs into Henrietta who asks him to protect her as she poses as a commoner in order to lure out one of her enemies. Saito and Henrietta evade detection from the soldiers searching for the Queen by behaving like sweethearts, while Louise learns of the details of the Queen's mission from Agnes. In a theater in town, while Scarron and his girls are in the middle of performing a play, Henrietta confronts her enemy. 
07 "The Underground Secret Document"
"Chitei no Himitsu Bunsho" (地底の秘密文書)

Henrietta is convinced to sign a declaration of war against Albion. News of a victorious battle for the Tristain and Germania allied forces reaches a town that Louise and Saito are currently in. Saito discovers a sailor uniform on sale at a clothes merchants shop, and buys it, opting to give it to Siesta rather than to Louise. Upon returning to the academy, the two join Agnes and Julio on exploring a secret archive hidden beneath the school, which Agnes was denied permission. Agnes wishes to obtain the information there regarding her home town of D'Angleterre's burning to help carry out her revenge against those involved. Eleonore is picked to open to lock to the entrance. As the group heads farther down, they are joined by Siesta, who is wearing the sailor uniform Saito gave her earlier. After discovering that Saito gave the sailor uniform to Siesta because Louise lacked the chest size to make it look good, Louise blows a part of the cave in the way they came. With little to do but move further, the group finds the archives and are sent to look for the records regarding the town of D'Angleterre's burning 20 years ago. When Siesta trips and makes a mess of the books, Eléonore returns them to their proper place with magic, which triggers the archives' security system and begins to bring the bookshelves to a close. Agnes finally finds the information regarding D'Angleterre's burning, but a part of the page that lists the person who led the attack is missing. The group narrowly escapes the collapsing of the bridge that led them to the archives. Upon realizing that Louise had blocked there way out from before, Julio grants Saito permission to have intimate moments with Siesta. Siesta is happy to oblige and Saito also thinks it to be a good idea, however, Louise is watching and is preparing to blow something else up. When Saito points out that the cave in she made earlier is in the opposite direction, Louise tells him to shut up and blows them up anyway. 
08 "The Magic Institute's Crisis"
"Mahō Gakuin no Kiki" (魔法学院の危機) 
2007-08-27
Albion sends hired mercenaries to make a surprise attack on the Magic Academy and take all of the people from the royal families hostage. Saito and his friends plan on how they will rescue the people taken hostage as it will take too long for the reinforcements to come from the palace. It is discovered the captain was one of those who attacked Agnes's town D'Angleterre's and burnt it to the ground 20 years ago. 
09 "The Atonement of Flames"
"Honō no Shokuzai" (炎の贖罪) 
2007-09-03
Colbert sensei and Saito devise a plan to enter into the building and save the hostages. Benubiro explains to Anies how his captain Snake of the Flame ruthlessly burnt the women and children to ashes. The team use their combined magic to enter the building. During the attack, Benubiro recognises Colbert-sensei who is in fact his captain Enja, Serpent of the Flame. The two enemies begin a heated battle. Agnes becomes furious and charges towards Colbert sensei. Benubiro fires a lethal fireball towards Agnes to stop her from interrupting them, Colbert-sensei pushes her away from the blast and is struck in the crossfire. Agnes takes her revenge for her town upon Benubiro and defeats him. Colbert-sensei in his last moments explains what had occurred on that fateful day. He had been given orders to destroy D'Angleterre's Town as it had been reported to be struck with a deadly plague. After discovering there was no plague, he discovers a girl (Agnes) the only survivor and he carries her to safety. Agnes is still infuriated and she holds up her sword to strike a final blow to Colbert-sensei, but he dies before she can do so. Louise and Saito are saddened by the death of their teacher, whereas Agnes is still undecided if she will ever forgive him. 
10 "The Enemy on Snowy Alps"
"Setsurei no Teki" (雪嶺の敵)

Louise and Saito are assigned a special mission by Princess Henrietta to attack the enemies line of defense, the City of South Gotha. The plan is to attack the town using Louise's Void Magic to disable the enemy from engaging in battle and to prevent the death of innocent people during the crossfire. Louise accepts the the mission, but Saito is reluctant to join the war because of what he had been told by the late Colbert-sensei. During the attack, Louise is unable to perform her Void Magic and the plane crash lands, causing the mission to be a failure, forcing the princess to send her Army head on into battle. Governor Sheffield learns of a flying dragon made of steel (the crash landed fighter plane) and arranges to have it recovered. They find an enemy air fighter named Henry Stalford who is badly injured and unable to fight, so Saito helps him by carrying him to safety. The Albion troops arrive to recover the plane and kill the enemy, however the two are rescued by Julio just in time. 
11 "The Silver Pentecost"
"Shirogane no Kōrinsai" (銀の降臨祭) 
2007-09-17
Henrietta's forces enter South Gotha and claim it. Scarron's traveling tavern sets up shop, and Saito and Louise are reunited with Siesta, Jessica, and Guiche. Guiche shows off a medal and relates a story of coming back from the dead, which no one believes. Using the Ring of Andavari, Sheffield causes some of Henrietta's troops to attack the city from within. 
12 "The Farewell Wedding Ceremony"
"Sayonara no Kekkonshiki" (さよならの結婚式) 
2007-09-24
Louise is secretly approached by one of Henrietta's advisors and is asked to hold the enemy off while the Queen escapes. Knowing that it is a suicide mission, Louise plans to send Saito to safety, but not before marrying him. Catching wind of her plan, Saito uses a sleeping potion on Louise and asks Julio to take care of her and sets out to meet Albion's advancing troops. Despite his valiant efforts, Saito falls in the battlefield. Back at the academy, Louise despairs at Saito's apparent death, however, suddenly the magical flower that is connected to Saito comes back to life. Louise runs out and meets Saito who is very alive. When Saito fell, the Fairy, who resembles an Elf, saved and healed him back health. While explaining, Saito mentions the fairy's large breasts which then Louise uses as an excuse, flies into a jealous rage, forgets about being sad about him and starts trying to explode Saito yet again.
