[edit] Yu-Gi-Oh!

Yu-Gi-Oh! This first version of the Yu-Gi-Oh Manga Series was produced by Toei Animation, and is based on Volumes 1-7 of the Yu-Gi-Oh Manga Series

Its animation quality was seen as shabby, had lots of needless filler episodes and was very unlike the original manga series in many fans opinions.[citation needed] For this reason, the Licence was then sold to NAS, who produced their interpretation known as Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters. (Animated by TV Tokyo)

[edit] Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters (US: Yu-Gi-Oh!)

This second incarnation of the Yu-Gi-Oh manga series was produced by TV Tokyo based solely on Volumes 8-38. It has no relation to the earlier Toei Series Timeline (In order to prevent this common mistake, the series was Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters in Japan)

This decision to leave out earlier events left many plot holes in the series (Such as the main casts first encounters with Yugi, their game with Bakura and Yugi's encounter with Shadi) These were filled in by similarly themed episodes in later episodes and a series of flashbacks.

Two English-language dubs were produced, one by 4kids Entertainment, which saw a lot of footage cuts and name changes to be palatable for a younger age group. The second, produced for Singapore, was entirely uncut and used the same Americanized names as the U.S./Canada/UK version.
