List of Wildlife Species at Risk
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The List of Wildlife Species at Risk is a list maintained by the Government of Canada that commits the government to protect wildlife species and their habitats. Addition of species is done annually by the Minister of the Environment, based on a report from the Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada (COSEWIC), an independent committee of wildlife experts and scientists.
The list contains five categories for species: special concern, threatened, endangered, extirpated, and extinct.
