When the Nationals arrived in Washington, D. C., MASN acquired the television rights for almost all Nationals games. Since MASN was not widely available at first, approximately half of the Nationals games were also televised on WDCA. When FOX Sports televised a Saturday afternoon game, the local affiliate WTTG would usually televise the game the following day. Initially, games televised by ESPN were not blacked out in Washington.
In 2006, MASN continued to televise Nationals games. The number of WDCA telecasts decreased to approximately 30, mostly on Friday nights.
