- Wolfgang Van Halen played rhythm guitar and sang backing vocals on some dates of the 2004 reunion tour.
- Alan Fitzgerald played keyboards offstage for Van Halen tours in the early 1990s and in 2004.
- Early in the band's career, they experimented with a keyboard player (somewhere between 1974 and 1978).
- Alex Van Halen provides backing vocals in the studio.
- From 1967-1972, Eddie Van Halen and Alex Van Halen begin learning instruments together, performing in various small venues. They then joined various "Top 40" cover bands.
- Eddie Van Halen and Alex Van Halen formed their first band, Trojan Rubber Company, in 1971, which lasted until the formation of Mammoth in 1972.
- From 1972–1973, Mammoth rented a PA system from David Lee Roth.
- Alex Van Halen played keyboards on the track "Respect the Wind" from the film Twister, performed by Edward Van Halen and Alex Van Halen. This film also included the song "Humans Being", recorded by Van Halen in their entirety. This was the last song to be recorded by the Sammy Hagar/Eddie Van Halen/Michael Anthony/Alex Van Halen line-up.
- Eddie Van Halen played bass on 9 of the 12 tracks from the studio album Van Halen III, with Michael Anthony playing on "Without You", "One I Want", and "Fire in the Hole".
- The compilation album Best of Volume I introduced the 2 new tracks "Can't Get This Stuff No More" and "Me Wise Magic", featuring original lead vocalist David Lee Roth.
- The compilation album The Best of Both Worlds introduced the 3 new tracks "It's About Time", "Up for Breakfast", and "Learning to See", featuring Eddie Van Halen on bass.
