This is a complete episode listing for the anime series Trinity Blood. The episodes are directed by Tomohiro Hirata, animated by Gonzo, and produced by the fourteen company Trinity Blood Production Committee.[1] It was based on a series of Japanese light novels written by Sunao Yoshida. The series first aired on WOWOW in Japan on April 28, 2005 and concluded twenty-four episodes later on October 27, 2005.[2]
Trinity Blood first premiered in dubbed English on July 6, 2006 on the Razer specialty channel in Canada,[3] and it premiered in the United States on September 9, 2006 as part of the Adult Swim block of Cartoon Network.[4] The series also aired in Malaysia on ntv7, in Australia on the Australian Cartoon Network's Adult Swim, in Spain on Buzz Channel, and in Latin American on the worldwide satellite channel Animax.[1]
For all twenty-four episodes of the original series, the opening theme, "Dress (Bloody Trinity Mix)" (ドレス(BLOODY TRINITY MIX) Doresu (BLOODY TRINITY MIX)?), is performed by Buck-Tick with lyrics by Atsushi Sakurai. The ending theme, "Broken Wings", is performed by Tomoko Tane, who also wrote the lyrics.

Father Abel Nightroad is on board an airship when it is hijacked by the vampire Count Alfred Meinz, who intends to crash the airship into the Vatican. Abel is able to regain control of the ship using his unexpected knowledge of Lost technology. He has a stewardess named Jessica fly the ship while he deals with Count Meinz. The two battle on top of the airship where Abel reveals he is a Crusnik, a vampire that feeds on the blood of other vampires. Abel easily dispatches Meinz, with back up from Tres and a Vatican airship. | |||

Fathers Tres and Abel are sent to investigate the murder of several vampires. They encounter a young girl named Elyse who possesses psychic powers, including the ability to manipulate people's minds. However, Abel refuses to allow Tres to kill the child, causing Tres to target Abel as a traitor instead. Elyse is kidnapped by vampires and Abel must rescue her while avoiding being killed by Tres. After rescuing Elyse, Abel is confronted by Tres. However, Tres says he will not kill Abel as he has run out of bullets, but then they are attacked by more vampires and he shoots them showing he actually did have bullets left. | |||

Father Abel is sent to the city of Ishtvan, which is under the rule of Count Gyula, to find the "Star." He meets Sister Esther Blanchett, a troubled nun who he later learns has killed one of the Count's lieutenants to avenge the murder of Bishop Laura, her foster mother. At the urging of a man named Dietrich, she plans to carry out another assassination. However, Count Gyula's troops arrive, kill Dietrich, capture Abel and Esther, and burn down the church. | |||

Abel and Esther are taken to Count Gyula where they learn Gyula plans to use the "Star of Sorrow" to annihilate the humans. Gyula's wife was trying to help the humans of Istvan by building the Star of Sorrow to provide them energy. When out on a trip to help the humans, she was murdered, prompting Gyula's desire for revenge. Dietrich, who was also working for the Marquis, had changed the programming of the Star so that it would destroy the world and restart the war between Terrans (humans) and Methuselahs (vampires). Abel escorts Sister Esther to the Vatican in Rome. Esther, who will be trained to in combat operations and join Lady Catherina's AX, is introduced to several AX members. He is crying and lacking confidence about his ability to perform his duties, so she gives him a pep talk before Tres comes to retrieve her. | |||

Father Hugue de Watteau is sent to investigate the mass murder at a church in Amsterdam. Hugue rescues Sister Agnes, the sole witness of the murder, from a vampire attack. They are later captured by a regional vampire who wants to use a machine to probe Agnes' memories to find out who did the murders. Hugue is tied up and put in a pit where he must fight for his life against a werewolf. Agnes evades her vampire capturers to retrieve Hugue's staff and throw it down to him. The head vampire badly wounds Sister Agnes, which sends Hugue into a murderous rage. After making quick work of the werewolf, he kills all of the vampires in the building. | |||

Former AX member Father Leon Garcia is released from prison to join Father Abel in investigating Never Land Island, where Professor Barrie was running an orphanage. The island has no adults, only the kids, who are under the leadership of Wendy and her friend Peter. Through his research, Professor Barrie had turned all of the children into fairy-like vampires, except for Peter, who seemed immune to the process. When Wendy and the other children try to kill Abel and Leon, Peter helps them, causing Wendy to badly wound him. Abel and Leon destroy the "Tinkerbell System" which gave the children the ability to sync their movements with one another and their faerie-wings. When Leon moves to kill Wendy, Peter protects her. Realizes she was mistaken in her hatred of adults, Wendy apologized. Not wanting the children to be killed, Leon and Abel put the children onto a cargo freighter bound for Albion. | |||

Father Abel and Sister Noélle are sent to investigate the unexplained collapse of the National Palace in Barcelona, only to be told it was caused by structural integrity issues. They use the break to explore the city and a drunken Noélle tells Abel she is in love with him, but he gently rejects her. That evening Abel investigates a pharmaceutical company and finds the body of Professor Barrie. Isaak appears and tells Abel about a machine called "Silent Noise" which is capable of destroying entire cities in moments. He then activates the weapon and destroys much of Barcelona. In the devastation, Noélle is killed. Abel is able to destroy the system, but Isaak escapes. | |||

Archbishop Alfonso d'Este returns to Rome for the first time in five years, after losing the election for the Papacy. He brings with him a bell and an obelisk for the Vatican. Meanwhile, Father Nightroad has descended into a deep depression over Noélle's death and his perceived failure to protect her. Esther tries to get him to return to the Vatican but fails and he resigns from his position at AX. The agents suspect that the bell Alfonso has brought contains a Silent Noise device, but when it is rung, nothing happens. | |||

Lady Caterina is held under house arrest for her suspicion of Archbishop D'Este, however her suspicions were not wrong as the Archbishop is in league with the Rosen Kreuz Orden. Knowing he would be suspected, the Silent Noise system was put in the obelisk instead of the bell. When the AX team figures this out, D'Este tries to set a monster on them, but they are able to kill the monster, destroy the Silent Noise machine, and capture D'Este. Realizing Caterina is in danger, Abel returns and finds her under threat from Isaak. Abel actives his 80% Crusnik mode, but when he has the opportunity, he hesitates to kill Isaak due to a vow he made to never kill again. Isaak escapes again and Abel collapses in agony. | |||

In Venice, Abel teams up with a Methuselah agent of the Empire, Asta, to hunt down the vampire mass murderer Enderle Koutza. Asta has a personal grudge against Enderle because he murdered her former partner. She also has a great deal of contempt for Terran interference in Empire matters and has no desire to work with Abel. When they find Enderle, Asta begins an explosive fight with him that wounds and kills many innocent Terrans, as well as wounding Abel. She deeply regrets the loss of life she causes, and plans to return to the Empire, but as she is leaving they realize Enderle is planning to kill the visiting Pope. They catch up to him again and, working together, are able to get through his formidable defense system to capture him for trial. | |||

While Lady Caterina is waiting for a meeting with an Imperial Messenger, an explosion occurs in the complex, prompting fears of an assassination attempt. Ion Fortuna, the Imperial Messenger and the Earl of Memphis, attempts to deliver the message to Lady Caterina, but is mistaken for the assassin and shot by Tres before escaping. At Caterina's request, Abel goes to find him to arrange another meeting. When Abel reaches Ion's hiding place, he finds Sister Esther there to capture Ion. To her dismay, Abel slaps her and sternly rebukes her for disobeying his direct order. As he negotiations with Ion and his companion Radu, they find themselves under attack by the Inquisition department. | |||

Sister Esther, Ion and Radu flee from the execution squad and try to meet with Lady Caterina again. Abel and Esther try to help Ion and Radu escape, but Radu turns out to be a terrorist extremist in league with the Rosen Kreuz Orden. Radu attacks and injures Ion but Abel arrives and rescues him and Esther. As they escape by boat, the Inquisition department arrives and Sister Paula kills Radu. | |||

Dietrich and a still living Radu take over control of the Inquisition air ships and ground troops. Dietrich uses the ships to attack the city, while Radu goes after Abel, Esther, Ion and Petros. He fires on the group with a tank and when the smoke clears, Ion, Pedros, and Esther are laying in pools of blood, seemingly dead. Abel flies into a rage, activating his Crusnik mode and feeding on Ion's spilled blood. He terrifies Radu, who is ill matched against Abel. Abel kills Radu and appears to be going to finish feeding on the rest of Ion's blood when Esther awakens and calls to him, helping him come back to his senses. | |||

Esther and Abel accompany Ion back to Byzantium, the capital of the Empire. They go to meet with the Mirka Fortuna, Countess of Moldova and Ion's grandmother, only to find everyone in the mansion dead, including Mirka. While there they are attacked first by the minions of the Rosen Kreuz Orden and later by soldiers from the Empire who believe Ion is the one who murdered the Countess of Moldova. They escape and find refuge at Asta's mansion. | |||

Abel and Asta head to the Empress' palace for the meeting in an attempt to clear Ion's name. Meanwhile, Ion and Esther search for Menmarl, a former servant of the late Countess, with some help from a young girl named Seth. When Ion and Esther reach Menmarl's home, they find him badly wounded and dying. Before he dies, he tells Ion that Radu is the one who killed the Countess. They are attacked by a Death Hunter, a monster created by the Rosen Kreuz Orden. Though Ion is able to kill it, Esther is badly injured during the battle. Seth reappears to help Ion treat Esther's wounds. | |||

While Esther is recovering from her injuries, Ion encounters Radu again. Radu tells him he is going to assassinate the Empress during the Countess of Moldova's funeral. He also taunts Ion with suspicions about Esther, telling him about the death of Esther's foster mother. Confused by her not telling him about it, and letting Radu's words get to him, he picks a fight with Esther. He leaves her to recover while he seeks out Radu to kill him before he can kill the Empress. | |||

Abel and Asta continue to try to stop the assassination attempt on the Empress. Ion recklessly tries kill Radu during the funeral processession, but is easily defeated. Radu moves to kill Ion, but then turns the blow aside at the last moment and instead tells Ion to flee and that the Order is conspiring to kill the Empress. Ion is confused by Radu's seeming change of heart, but then Radu attacks again. Esther arrives and tries to help but is captured as well. The Empress orders them to be taken for questioning, while Abel and Asta watch from nearby. As Asta and Abel continue on to the Moldova Mausoleum, an explosion kills the Empress. Ion and Esther are locked in a cell together where Dietrich reveals himself to be controlling the dead Radu's body. Dietrich shoots Ion with a bullet that sends him into a blood lust then throws Esther a silver sword. Ion begs Esther to kill him before he loses control of himself and kills on her, but Esther refuses. | |||

Esther offers her blood to Ion, but he uses the sword to regain control of himself then moves to kill himself to protect Esther. Abel shoots the sword from Ion's hand and releases them. As they, along with Asta, confront Süleyman about his betrayal of the Empress, the Empress herself appears along with Mirka Fortuna, who was not dead but acting as a stand in for the Empress who few have ever seen. The Empress reveals herself to be Seth, the girl who helped Ion and Esther before and whom Süleyman had attempted to kill. Süleyman fires at her, but deliberately misses because he can't bring himself to kill her. However, when he fired at the Empress, Asta had fired at him giving him a fatal wound. Meanwhile, Abel confronts the Radu puppet and in Crusnik form, appears to strike Radu a killing blow, but the puppet can't be stopped. Abel attempts to go to 80% output, but he collapses because he hasn't fed on enough blood. As Radu prepares to kill Abel, Seth arrives and uses her own Crusnik attack, the Fire of Sound, to save Abel, destroying the puppet. | |||

The Queen of Albion dies and no successor has been named, causing the country to be in danger of losing its independence. They ask the Vatican to send representatives to strengthen an alliance between them, so Sister Esther accompanies the Pope in the visit. Mary Spencer and Virgil Walsh give them a tour of the city, including the "Ghetto," Albion's underground factory, manned entirely by enslaved Methuselah. During the tour, Virgil's sister Vanessa attempts to kidnap the Pope, but Esther helps him escape while Virgil argues with Vanessa. When she learns the Pope is missing, Caterina asks Brother Pedro and Sister Paula to help her AX agents find and protect him, fearing Francesco will let the Pope be killed to promote a war between the humans and vampires. | |||

The AX agents enter the Ghetto through a secret entrance Abel shows them to search for the Pope and Esther. Alessandro, scared and separated from Esther, ends up in the residential area of the underground city in the care of a girl named Angelica and other vampires who are not a part of the rebellion. While he rests, they tell him more about the situation in Albion and the enslavement of the Methuselah. Angelica helps Alessandro gain some new confidence about his position and duties. She takes him to her secret place, but Vanessa finds him there and captures him. Meanwhile, while searching for the Pope, Esther is caught in a trap set by Dietrich and he reveals his plans to end the world. Leon overhears some of the rebels saying they have the Pope. Peter and Wendy appear and show him a way to the rebels' hideouts. He starts to leave them, but they are attacked by Dietrich's Death Hunters. Another one goes after Esther, but Abel saves her and sends her back above ground. | |||

Brother Petros and Sister Paula find Vanessa and the Pope and quickly retrieve him. Petro starts to kill her, but Alessandro begs him not to. They leave Vanessa there and she returns to Virgil. He tells her they can put their hope in the new generation, as she herself has just seen in the Pope's action. Dietrich and the Rosen Kreuz Order begin attacking the underground city, while Death Hunters go after Petros, Paula and Alessandro. Paula tries to hold them off while Petros carries the Alessandro to safety, but when they end up surrounded they are saved by Vanessa. Meanwhile, Cain attacks the palace, wounding Mary and killing many of the palace guards. Esther follows him inside the palace as he descends underground where Abel is fighting Dietrich. When he arrives, Cain kills Dietrich for being a failure. Abel quickly attacks Cain, but Esther runs into the room, causing him to stop and giving Cain an opening to kill him. As he falls, Abel calls out Esther's name and she screams in agony. | |||

After Abel's funeral, Sister Esther keeps vigil at his coffin, blaming herself for his death. Caterina goes to Lilith's coffin and takes a green container from it, which she gives to Tres to take to Albion. Virgil seals the Ghetto to protect the residents and an old space ship from Rosen Kreuz. Cain makes plans to merge with Abel's body to get the codes necessary to activate the ship. Isaak launches an all-out aerial assault on Albion. Virgil goes to find Esther and tells her that she is the one and only true heir to the throne of Albion, the secret daughter of the Queen's assassinated son. She hesitates at first until she hears Abel's voice repeating what he told her when they first met. When they arrive in Albion, Esther quickly calms a mob that had formed at the palace. The AX agents head after Isaak's airship. Their first attack proves useless, so Sister Kate fires on it with the Iron Maiden, but the airship's shields easily deflect the blast. | |||

The AX agents, Brother Petro, Sister Paula, and Vanessa coordinate their efforts to use a flaw in the shield to shatter it when Isaak fires again, bringing the ship down though destroying a large part of the city as well. Esther goes to Abel's coffin to find Tres pouring the contents of the tube into it. Cain arrives right behind Esther. Tres attacks him but is easily defeated. Cain tries to get Abel's body, but before he can, Abel emerges in a black humanoid form with wings and flies through a window. Cain actives his Crusnik form and pursues him. As they battle, Abel remembers Cain as he used to be. The fight ends in a draw after they simultaneously knock each other out of the sky as the sun rises. Esther is crowned Queen of Albion and blessed by the Pope. Together they pray for a new world where all people can live together. Abel, joined by Ion Fortuna, quietly leaves to continue hunting for Cain until he can kill him. |

In Region 1, the series was released on DVD by FUNimation Entertainment. FUNimation released the series in six single volumes, in regular and limited edition version, with English and Japanese audio and English subtitles. Each individual volume includes four episodes and spans 100 minutes. Most of the volumes include cultural and historical notes as well. The regular edition DVDs have keepcase covers, while the limited edition DVDs come in digipaks with slipcovers. The first volume limited edition version included a series box, while all of the limited editions included insert booklets and tarot cards that included original art and additional series information.[5]
The individual volumes are currently being re-released at a lower price point as part of FUNimation's value priced Viridian Collection. Other than a slightly redesigned cover to include the Viridian Collection tag, the volumes are identical to the regular versions.[5] They have also released the complete series as a box set, which also includes tarot cards and four limited edition insert booklets.
FUNimation has also made all twenty-four English dubbed episodes available for purchasing through iTunes, with the option to buy individual episodes or the entire series.[6]

The series was originally released in Japanese (Region 2) in twelve individual DVD volumes with two episodes on a single disk. All of the volumes were released in both regular and collector's editions. The regular editions had few extras, mostly trailers and a booklet. The collector's editions came in higher end packaging and more extras, including deluxe booklets with character profiles and tarot cards designed by Thores Shibamoto. The first six volumes also included special "secret voice" CDs. The final volume's collector's edition also included in a jigsaw puzzle and postcards designed by Shibamoto.[7] All of the volumes have Japanese language tracks with no subtitles.

In Europe (Region 2), the series is currently being released to DVD by MVM Entertainment. The region 2 releases do not include the same on disc extras as the Region 1 releases, however they do all come with the collectible tarot cards. Each volume contains four episodes spanning 100 minutes.[5]

Trinity Blood was release in Region 4 (Australia) by Madman Entertainment as six four episode volumes.[8] The first volume was also made available with a collector's box that can hold all six volumes. Each volume included English and Japanese language audio tracks, English subtitles, textless opening and ending themes, an electronic gallery of the tarot cards that came with the original releases, reversible covers, and booklets.[9]
