[edit] Episodes 1-26
In February 2004, 4Kids Entertainment announced that they had acquired the license for the series and planned to air it as part of their Fox Kids network entertainment block. In the initial announcement, 4Kids noted that they would be renaming the series to Hollywood Mew Mew and that the series would be so heavily edited and localized that viewers would not recognized it as being a Japanese series.[7] Subsequent 4Kids press releases about the series referred to the new series as The Mew Mews and its original name of Tokyo Mew Mew.[8] When the series premiered on Fox Kids on February 19, 2005, it was named Mew Mew Power.[9] In the 4Kids dubbed version, all of the characters and episodes were renamed, some scenes cut and some story lines modified. The episodes were also rearranged, with the twelfth episode moved to become the series' first episode, and the rest adjusted accordingly. All of the music in the series was also replaced with a new score, and the opening theme replaced with the song "Team Up", performed by Bree Sharp. Twenty-three episodes of Mew Mew Power aired on 4Kids in the United States before the series was canceled due to 4Kids being unable to acquire the other half of the series.[10]
In addition to renaming the series, 4Kids renamed all of the episodes, so both the Mew Mew Power and actual translated English titles are given below.
