[edit] Yuuki Family

Rito Yuuki (結城 リト Yūki Rito?) Voiced by: Akeno Watanabe [1]
The male protagonist. He is a 15 year old high-school student who has a big crush on Haruna Sairenji (he presumably becomes 16 by chapter 27). Rito used to be on the soccer team in junior high, but he quit because he was constantly helping his father with manga, and that he did not want to leave his younger sister Mikan alone in the house. Mikan commented he's very good at "useless little things" like crane games. Somehow, Rito always ends up ogling or groping the many girls in the series (though mostly unintentional) and usually receives swift physical retribution for it. Rito shows signs of developing deeper feelings towards Lala throughout the story, despite his enduring feelings towards Haruna. This was shown when Rito desperately attempted to capture the pervert who was planning on taking pictures of Lala and Haruna (though he initially mistook the pervert to be an alien fiancé candidate). He also displayed great concern and when he searched for a whole day (and night) for Lala when she disappeared and stayed over at Haruna's house after he yelled at her. In chapter 97, Rito said that he felt uneasy when Lala was not around him and that he probably liked Lala. However, he also stated that he didn't know if what he was feeling was love. From chapter 100-102, Rito became a girl due to a rocket Lala made, and had difficulties adjusting to being a girl. His hairstyle resembles Train Heartnet's, the main character of Yabuki's Black Cat.
Mikan Yuuki (結城 美柑 Yūki Mikan?) Voiced by: Kana Hanazawa [1]
Rito's independent and reliable younger sister, Mikan takes care of the house while their parents are away on business. In contrast to her older brother, she is very mature for her age and grade and she doesn't hesitate to tease him. She also seems to have a certain lack of respect for her older brother because of this (she does not address Rito by his honorific as an older brother). She may not show it but she cares very deeply for Rito and misses his company, and how they used to play together before Lala entered their lives. However, Rito managed to cheer her up (with Lala's help). She has also grown quite attached to Golden Darkness, perhaps due to Darkness (seemingly) being the same age as Mikan. Mikan is very perceptive and seems to be able to read people's emotions (or reactions). She showed this in the chapter 10 and chapter 97, where Mikan noticed Rito's obvious anxiety around Haruna and Kotegawa's more subtle feelings for Rito (with Mikan calling Rito a "Playboy" for attracting so many girls).
Saibai Yuuki (結城 才培 Yūki Saibai?)
Rito's father is a manga artist and is very different compared to Rito in terms of both looks and personality. He draws at amazing speeds and can be serious at times of work, but seems to have a bit of a goofy side to him as well. Indications are: him making a joke about Rito and Lala "sleeping" together every night and punching Rito when he got drunk and mistook Rito as a burglar.
Ringo Yuuki (結城 林檎 Yūki Ringo?)
Rito's mother and a fashion designer and a scout for models. Normally working overseas, she came back to town in chapter 60 to check up on her family. Despite initially appearing to be refined and chic, her personality is equally as odd as her husband's as she has a tendency to start sizing women up with her hands if she spots pretty girls. Ringo seems to take her work very seriously as she almost immediately got into "work-mode" when she saw Lala for the first time. She then left again for work. It is quite clear that Rito takes after her in appearance.

[edit] Planet Deviluke

Lala Satalin Deviluke (ララ・サタリン・デビルーク Rara Satarin Debirūku?) Voiced by: Haruka Tomatsu [1]
The female protagonist. Lala is the princess of Deviluke, a Devilukean. Lala is rather childish and is also somewhat naive as she doesn't notice the fact that some characters look lecherously at her (such as the principal). She ran away from home so she didn't have to get married to any of her arranged fiancés. She enjoys making all manners of inventions (that are usually designed as pranks) and uses them frequently, often prompting some disastrous effect or another. At first she was pretending to love Rito to keep herself from getting married but she then fell in love with him after she misinterpreted what Rito shouted in self-defence. Throughout the series so far, she always tries to get Rito to love her more (which normally doesn't work), and has never shown any negative feelings towards him (except for one instance when Rito reprimanded her). She even stated that it's impossible for her to hate him (prompted when an alien mimicked Lala's physical form and said it hated Rito). Lala isn't shy at all, to the point where she doesn't care if she gets naked in front of Rito. The only exception so far was one chapter where Lala had a illness that caused her to have an extremely cute, and shy personality. Like all people from Deviluke she has physical abilities far beyond that of a human, and also has a distinctive tail that comes from her back. Her tail is very sensitive, causing her friends to nickname it as her "weakness" and tease it every so often, much to her dismay. In the recent chapters of the manga, it is shown that her tail is capable of firing a destructive beam. According to Ringo Yūki (Rito's mother) in Chapter 60, Lala's measurements are the following: B:(Breast) 89. W: (Waist) 57. H: (Hips) 87.
Peke (?) Voiced by: Satomi Arai [1]
Lala's all costume robot who normally acts a dress for Lala to wear. He was created by Lala and is very devoted to her to the point of telling her to not fail at any kind of competition. Peke has the ability to shape-shift into any kind of clothing for Lala to wear, but that ability also drains his power supply. As his batteries run out, the clothing that Lala is wearing at the moment will slowly dissolve until it completely disappears. The clothes will disappear immediately if Peke falls off Lala and that has actually happened on more than one occasion. Peke seems to be able to recharge by simply sleeping.
Gid Lucione Deviluke (ギド・ルシオン・デビルーク Gido Rushion Debirūku?)
King of Deviluke, emperor of the galaxy, and father of Lala. Despite his immense power, he has the physical appearance of a child and is a huge pervert. Lala claims the only reason he wants her to get married is so he can hand over his throne and be free to pursue his perverted hobbies.
Nana Asta Deviluke (ナナ・アスタ・デビルーク Nana Asuta Debirūku?) and Momo Velia Deviluke (モモ・ベリア・デビルーク Momo Beria Debirūku?)
Lala's twin younger sisters who first appeared in chapter 97. They trapped most of the characters in a virtual game world created by Lala that they subsequently modified. They claimed that they did this to determine the nature of Lala's friends and to test Rito's affection for Lala. Nana seems to be the more mischievous while Momo seems to be more calm (for the most part).
Zastin (ザスティン Zasutin?) Voiced by: Takehito Koyasu [1]
Lala's personal bodyguard and the best swordsman of the planet Deviluke. Initially, he disapproved of Rito as Lala's chosen fiancé (when Lala was actually pretending to begin with) because he saw Rito to be weak and subsequently sought to test Rito's mettle. However, once Rito shouted out his opinion of marriage in self-defence, Zastin was swayed by his words (though not in the way Rito had intended) and summarily approved of him as he felt Rito truly understood Lala's feelings. He is currently Assistant Chief to Rito's father who is a manga writer due to an incident caused by Lala. Despite his skill with a sword, he has a horrible sense of direction (similar to River Zastory), resulting in him being constantly lost (another running gag in the series). He is often on the receiving end of many negative events or on-goings in the series (such as, all ways being hit by on-coming trains; yet another gag in the series), and seems to have very bad luck all together. Recently he has shown an interest in doing manga professionally. He bears a passing resemblance to Creed Diskenth from Black Cat.

[edit] Other aliens

Ren/Run Elsie Jewelria (レン・エルシ・ジュエリア Ren Erushi Jueria?) Voiced by: Fuyuka Ōura [1]
A childhood friend of Lala, infamously known for wearing girl clothing during his play dates with Lala. At first he arrives on Earth to win back Lala by proving he is "man enough" for her, but soon becomes jealous due to her relationship with Rito. Due to his pursuit of Lala, he accidentally gives Rito his first kiss. However, while the male Ren regretted this, it had an unexpected consequence towards his "alter ego". As Ren is from Planet Memorze (メモルゼ Memoruze?), he can change gender in both mind and body upon triggering a specific stimulus (which is sneezing while on Earth), though they seem to share memories; as a girl she goes by the name Run (ルン?). Run is in love with Rito due to the kiss and blames Lala for all her problems, while Ren is in competition (albeit rather one sided) with him for Lala's hand in marriage. In chapter 103, Run has became a pop idol.
Golden Darkness (金色の闇 Konjiki no Yami?) Voiced by: Misato Fukuen [1]
Called Yami-chan by Lala; a dispassionate assassin, hired by one of Lala's fiancé candidates Lacospo (ラコスポ Rakosupo?). A running gag in the series often finds Rito accidentally groping her as a result of some incident or another. Since she has stated that she hates "ecchi" people, this results in Rito getting beaten up. Recently, she is suspected to have developed some slight feelings for Rito and seems to refrain from attacking him with her ability to transform her hair into pointed objects, so that she doesn't kill him (although she does this with the perverted principal of Rito's school on rare occasions). Instead, she substitutes with a large metal fist. She likes Earth clothes and food, especially Taiyaki as she mentioned that it is the only thing she ate while on Earth prior to eating Sukiyaki at Rito's home. Coincidentally, when Rito and Yami first encountered each other, Rito offered her Taiyaki when he noticed she was staring at him and assumed she was hungry. In recent chapters, it is hinted that she underwent "reconstructive surgery", though the cause has yet to be mentioned. It is also hinted she has a history with Ryouko Mikado. Also in chapter 97 it is hinted that she is insecure about her bust size and is willing to use her powers to make herself have larger breasts which she did in chapter 100.
Of particular note is Yami's similarity to Eve from Black Cat in appearance and ability. Eve and Golden Darkness also have the same general personality, both very shy around strangers and loves to read books. The two even share the same voice actress (Misato Fukuen) in CD/animated renditions of the Yabuki series.
Ryouko Mikado (御門 涼子 Mikado Ryouko?) Voiced by: Masako Joh [1]
The school doctor who also happens to be alien (she has pointed ears). She dresses rather provocatively even when on the job and helps out aliens on Earth in various manners, usually those dealing with medical care.

[edit] Schoolmates of Sainan High

Haruna Sairenji (西連寺 春菜 Sairenji Haruna?) Voiced by: Sayuri Yahagi [1]
One of Rito's school mates and the girl of Rito's affection. Haruna has similar feelings for Rito, and her feelings for him deepen throughout the series. Despite her growing love for Rito (which she mistakenly believes to be unrequited), she usually suppresses her feelings and can't confess to Rito because of her friendship with Lala, who also loves Rito. She lives with her older sister in an apartment and has a severe fear of ghosts and supernatural things. When frightened, she has a habit of grabbing Rito and using him to bat away whatever is scaring her. Recently, Haruna has become more comfortable regarding Rito touching her in any way (depending on the situation), stating that it "feels good". Her hairstyle resembles Saya Minatsuki's and Shinobu Maehara's.
Yui Kotegawa (古手川 唯 Kotegawa Yui?) Voiced by: Kaori Nazuka [1]
A high-strung girl placed in the same class as Rito, Lala and Haruna in their junior year. She has no tolerance for anything that she does not consider to be acceptable behaviour. Her haughty opinions, quick temper, and habit of speaking her mind often results in her vocally reprimanding people who are acting 'inappropriately'. She quickly grows annoyed and disgusted by the eccentricities and bizarre actions involving her classmates, particularly with regards to Rito and Lala. Unfortunately for Yui, every encounter with Rito usually ends up in a situation that gets her embarrassed. Lately, Yui began to show feelings for Rito, but something weird usually ends up ruining the moment. However, in chapter 86, Rito saved Yui from being assaulted by a group of hoodlums, which led to Yui looking at Rito in a different light. Yui even let the fact that Rito 'casually touched her boobs', though in reality, she fell on him and ended up in one of the many embarrassing situations with each other. She let that matter slide because she was very happy that Rito saved her when others ignored her obvious plight. She has recently begun calling Rito with the Japanese suffix "Kun." (She calls him Yuuki-kun.) But when Rito would do something to anger her, she would plainly call him Yuuki. But this may be because of a translation error.
Saki Tenjōin (天条院 沙姫 Tenjouin Saki?) Voiced by: Ayako Kawasumi [1]
The arrogant queen bee of the school, she consistently tries to one-up Lala only to embarrass herself in the end. Eventually she gains a crush on Zastin only to be horrified at the thought that he is in service to Lala, this however has made her very determined to win his heart at any cost.
Kenichi Saruyama (猿山健一?) Voiced by: Hiroyuki Yoshino [1]
Perverted male best friend of Rito. Is more open and obvious about his girl obsession and is one of the few male characters Rito can speak with about his situations about Haruna or Lala regarding with when not around Lala or any of the other girls.
Risa Momioka (籾岡 里紗?) Voiced by: Ryōka Yuzuki [1] and Mio Sawada (沢田 未央?) Voiced by: Chiemi Chiba [1]
Mischievous best friends of Haruna. Risa is known for groping other girl's breasts and has a bit of a resemblance to Saki. Her favorite person to grope is Haruna.
Rin Kujō (九条 凛?) Voiced by: Mai Hashimoto [1] and Aya Fujisaki (藤崎 綾?) Voiced by: Kaori Mizuhashi [1]
Saki's loyal and assisting friends. Rin, a girl skilled in fighting, has been a friend and a loyal bodyguard of Saki for years, as her family has always served the Tenjouin as bodyguards. Aya, a more weak-willed girl in circular glasses, became associated with Saki after she and Rin protected her from bullies when she was younger.
Motemitsu (?)
The best pitcher on the baseball team at Rito's school and an arrogant womaniser. If a new girl comes to the school, Motemitsu will most likely try anything cool to get them to go on a date with him, but gets turned down almost immediately. The only three known girls he's after are (in order): Lala, Yami (she cuts off most of his top hair in one incident), and Run. Motemitsu is also greatly admired by the guys and they are almost always cheering him on whether he succeeds or fails. It is also shown that Motemitsu is a big pervert in chapter 13 when he took sneak shots of girls changing, but was caught after an accident from Rito and Lala caused him and the photos to land right in front of all the girls at the pool. He also keeps a personal record of every girl in the school with him.
Oshizu Murasamu (村雨静 Oshizu-Murasame?)
The ghost of a girl that died in the old abandoned school building 400 years ago. She is sincere, kind, and very curious about the modern world, but has a severe fear of dogs. Since her meeting with Rito and others, she has begun to explore the world outside the old school building. Currently, it is unknown whether she has any romantic feelings for Rito. Later on, she discovers Haruna's crush on Rito when she accidentally possesses Haruna. Due to this encounter, Oshizu becomes very supportive towards cheering Haruna onto confessing her feelings to Rito. In chapter 89, she has "returned" to the living after Mikado sensei made an artificial body for Oshizu. This biological prosthetic body has realistic qualities (looking and feeling like an actual body), but Oshizu still doesn't know how to walk properly due to her long time being dead. Also, she emits massive blasts of mental stress whenever she's frightened, which can cause any nearby objects to blow apart such as Risa's top flying off and flashing her breasts in front of Rito. She is also a very bad artist when trying to draw the girl (which was Yuuki at the time) in chapter 101-2.

[edit] Other characters

Yû Kotegawa (古手川 遊 Kotegawa Yuu?)
Yui's older brother who is 19 years old. He is a ladies' man, and usually topless at home, which Yui greatly dislikes. In chapter 86, after finding Rito and Yui being chased by hoodlums, he beats them up, commenting that he hopes Yui would get to be more mature.
Mahou (Magical) Kyoko Voiced by: Chiemi Chiba
A fictional mahou shoujo (magical girl) character who stars in her own TV serial titled after herself. It appears she wields fire magic and her favourite catch phrase at the end of the episode is 'The same for today, we've burned them to the ground!'. The new season of her series is titled 'Mahou Kyoko Flame'. Lala seems to like watching her series and would often force Rito to watch with her. Between chapter 93 and 97, she was programmed to appear as the final 'Demon King Boss' in a game modified by Nana and Momo (originally designed by Lala). Rito and friends were given invitations by Nana and were subsequently trapped in a game world, with Lala as a princess held captive in Mahou Kyoko's castle. Midway through the game, Kyoko was programmed to seek out Rito and offer him a way to send him and his friends home if he left Lala and promised to be her boyfriend instead. Later, she tried to determine Rito's feelings for Lala by threatening to destroy them all if he did not state his feelings towards Lala. In a sort of anti-climatic conclusion, the otherwise 'invincible' boss was defeated when she tried to burn them all, by a super-charged watering can that only Rito the florist had (his in-game profession). Mahou Kyoko's appearance and powers are obviously modeled on Kyōko Kirisaki, a character from another of Kentaro Yabuki's manga, Black Cat. Also, at one point, she called herself Kyōko Kirisaki.
The principal
The principal of the school, he is a pervert who is well-known in the school's public. Recently, he often flirts on Yami but often gets beaten up by her and the other schoolgirls. His hairstyle resembles to Woodney from Black Cat.
