While the girls are campaigning to save a 200-year-old oak tree, the most hated woman in the neighborhood dies. Coincidentally, she expires after Rose angrily tells her to "drop dead". The girls pay for the funeral, but no mourners show up.

Rose stars as Henny Penny, the chicken that believes "the sky is falling"; Blanche stars as Goosey Loosey; and Dorothy stars as Turkey Lurkey. The play gets rave reviews by the school newspaper, and the producers of the play ultimately succeed in inspiring the students to read.
