- Buzz Watson (Phillip P. Keene): Buzz is the Civilian Surveillance Coordinator for the Priority Homicide Division. A pro at monitoring and analyzing audio and video feeds for interrogations, wiretaps, and court records. Buzz's personnel file has apparently been misplaced and no paperwork on him is currently available. He is a great asset to the squad, though he seems to live in fear of his equipment being mishandled, spilled on, or broken by rest of the squad. Over three seasons, Buzz has taken an increasingly active role in solving the PHD's cases.
- Dr. Crippen (James L. Avery): The grumpy and terse medical examiner that Brenda and her team most commonly deal with. He was initially annoyed by Brenda’s attitude, much like the rest of the police department. Recently appeared in a wheelchair following a foot injury.
- Dr. Morales (Jonathan Del Arco): A Deputy Medical Examiner, who took over following Dr. Crippen's injury. He is sarcastic and rude in demeanor.
- Terrence Hynes (Robert Clendenin): A socially inept LA County Coroner's Forensics Support Technician with an odd sense of humor. Hynes us responsible for preparing a body to be brought to the Coroner's office for autopsy, and for assisting the Medical Examiner.)
- Detective Ross (Conan McCarty): A rough Robbery Homicide Detective who hates Priority Homicide Squad and Brenda.
- Deputy DA Martin Garnett (James Patrick Stuart): A Deputy District Attorney for Los Angeles County, charged with making decisions about whether Brenda's cases will go to court. He and Brenda have an often-difficult working relationship.
- Willie Rae Johnson (Frances Sternhagen): Brenda’s steel-magnolia mother. She comes to town on an unexpected visit, and catches her daughter off guard. Brenda unsuccessfully tries to hide her relationship with Fritz from Willie Rae, for fear of disapproval. She fails in this task but is not harshly criticized by her mother. While in L.A., Willie Rae spends time with Provenza.
- Clay Johnson (Barry Corbin): Brenda's bluff, but loving father.
- Tom Blanchard (Ray Wise): Brenda and Pope’s lawyer on separate occasions. He has an oily attitude and seems morally ambiguous. Further, he knows the contents of a gift Pope gave to Brenda, who refused to risk impropriety by opening the package.
