[edit] The Berenstain Bears Visit the Dentist
In this book, Sister Bear gets her first loose tooth. She tells Brother when she notices this, and Brother tells her that the dentist will yank it out with his yankers. Sister gets scared and does not mention her loose tooth to Mama in fear of having to go to the dentist. She tries extremely hard to remove her tooth, but by the end of the day it still has not come out. Brother has to go to the dentist because he has a cavity, and so Sister follows along with him and Mama. When she is watching Brother get his cavity filled, she informs the dentist of her loose tooth, and he invites her up to the chair to look at it. Sister is scared that he will use his yankers to pull it out, but he uses a piece of gauze and pulls it out. He gives the tooth to Sister to take home, and she puts it under her pillow and discovered that she has gotten money in exchange for her tooth the next morning.
[edit] The Berenstain Bears and Too Much TV
In this book, Mama Bear puts on a ban on television for one whole week. Papa Bear, Brother Bear and Sister Bear feel bored and all they can think of is the television. Mama Bear tries games, books and even some jobs until the bears learn that they can have fun without television.
CBS did not allow Southern Star Productions to adapt this book into an episode of the 1985 Berenstain Bears TV series, but when Nelvana began producing a newer Berenstain Bears series in 2003, they were able to adapt the book into animated form to show on PBS.
[edit] The Berenstain Bears Meet Santa Bear
This is the 15th book in the Berenstain Bears First Time Books series, published on October 12, 1984. In this book, the Bear family visits the Bear Country Mall, which is already decorated for the Christmas season. Sister Bear becomes excited about getting to meet Santa Bear. Sister becomes nervous as to whether or not she's been good enough for Santa's expectations, recalling incidents from previous books. Mama Bear and Papa Bear assure her that she doesn't have to worry, as Santa Bear doesn't expect cubs to be perfect. The next day, as Sister Bear visits Santa bear.
[edit] The Berenstain Bears and Too Much Junk Food
In this book, Brother Bear, Sister Bear, and Papa Bear see the ice cream van and go and get some ice cream. When they get home Mama is surprised to see that they are drinking Sweetsy Cola and is upset that they cannot eat the healthy meal she has made. Next day, they go shopping and Papa, Brother and Sister get loads of sweets. They bump into Dr. Grizzly's trolley and she sees the confection in their trolley. She suggests they come to her clinic in the meantime for some advice. Next day they go to the clinic and Dr. Grizzly shows the inside and the outside of their body. Then she shows them the fuel they need to put in their bodies.
[edit] The Berenstain Bears Learn About Strangers
The story begins when Sister Bear greets every stranger that she meets. When cautious Brother Bear discourages this, Sister begins to view all strangers as evil. Papa Bear shows articles from the newspaper such as, "Stranger Bothers Cub", "Missing Cub Found", "Chief Grizzly Questions Stranger". Mama Bear uses a barrel of apples to explain the concept of bad apples. An apple that looks bad on the outside is perfect inside. Another apple looks fine on the outside, but inside it's infested with worms. Brother goes to the town green to launch his pusher plane, where Sister picks wildflowers. Just as they are about to go home, somebody drives up with a radio-controlled plane. Brother starts talking to the stranger, and Sister arrives on the scene and stops Brother from accepting the stranger's offer of a ride to send the plane in the air and follow it in the car.

[edit] The Berenstain Bears and The Slumber Party
Mama lets Sister go to Lizzie's for a slumber party but Sister finds out that Lizzie has got a new babysitter. Soon the party causes havoc and by the time the Bruins comes back everything is a mess. The Bruins are so stern, they call the cubs parents to take them home and they tell them the mess they have made. The party was also cancelled and Lizzie was sent to bed. Mama was so angry and upset that she grounds Sister, which meant a day in her room and a week in the house. The next day, Sister called Lizzle and her friends again, then after that Mama Bear cancelled the grounding to get ready for the slumber party which was cancelled last night, by cleaning up the Bruins' living room. Before they had the slumber party, she told Lizzie that Too-Tall and the gang are not invited to the slumber party that was cancelled last night. They made a sign called "Too-Tall and the Gang Not Allowed". Then Sister gave Lizzie's sitter the earmuffs, not like last time.
In the book, the neighbours called the police after hearing the commotion from the Bruins' house. The Chief sent an officer to investigate and investigated simultaneously when the Bruins came home, this didn't happen in the TV episode adaptation. What Lizzie's sitter did do in the TV adaptation was call the cubs parents to take them home and then she tells them he mess they hae definetly made.
[edit] The Berenstain Bears and The Trouble With Grown-ups
Brother and Sister feel that their parents have nothing to say but negative things about their cubs. During a school talent night, the cubs express their feelings by performing a play called 'The Trouble with Grown-Ups', which gently parodies their parents. The next day, Mama and Papa Bear dress up as the cubs and do the same thing. This helps the family to understand their frustrations, and learn that no one means to get on each other's nerves, it's just part of being a family.
[edit] The Berenstain Bears' New Neighbors
Papa Bear has trouble adjusting to new neighbors that are different from him. The rest of his family is excited about new neighbors, and through meeting Mr. Panda and convincing that different is good, Papa Bear accepts the new neighbors.
It has been said that this book has racist undertones as pandas come from a different region, and Papa dislikes them.
[edit] The Berenstain Bears Count Their Blessings
While Mama is mopping the floor she thinks about how Sister and Brother will come back with complaints about how they do not have the things their friends have. When they come home Mama and Papa tell them to think about what they have that their friends do not have. They count all their blessings and when they sit down together as a family, the lights go out. Brother and Sister hear a storm coming; Papa knows a trick that can make the storm go away. They count each time and the storm is one mile away. After the storm, they go to bed and count the rest of their blessings.
[edit] The Berenstain Bears and the Homework Hassle
The story begins when Brother gets very far behind his homework and he gets a note in his backpack. He is told no more video games and no more television. He goes outside to Gramps and Gran and Gramps tells Brother of how his dad got far in his homework when he was a boy. He decides that he should go and do his homework.
[edit] The Berenstain Bears and the Excuse Note
Sister Bear finds gym very boring, so when she sees Lizzie with an excuse note, she decides Lizzie is lucky. After school, Brother and Sister are running and Sister trips on a stone and falls. Papa and Mama rush to see if she is all right. She scrapes her ankle and she gets an excuse note. At school she does not have any gym, and spends her time sitting down not doing anything. Next day, it is all better and she tells Mama why and asks her to write another excuse note. Mama says she cannot do that. Sister goes and sees Brother, who is practicing for his big soccer game. He explains to Sister that exercise is good for you.

Papa is in the Bruins cottage and promises that he will catch the biggest fish ever. But, unfortunately he forgets everything and has to go back up the long, steep wood stairs. Soon their day does not go well and they don't catch any fish at all. Next day, Papa's fingers ache and he decides to stay in bed. Next time Brother, Sister and Lizzie write a list of things they need. They tell Papa and soon they catch the biggest fish.

[edit] The Berenstain Bears and the New Girl in Town
An ancient feud in Bear Country between the Bear and Grizzly clans has resurfaced while a new female cub named Bonnie brown has transferred to Bear Country School. During her first day at the school, she ends up befriending Brother who has developed a crush on her and vice versa. Meanwhile, a school rendition of Romeo and Juliet helps both clans realize what could happen if they continue to feud with one another. In the end Brother and Bonnie are able to continue with their friendship with the feud over.
[edit] The Berenstain Bears and The Nerdy Nephew
Professor Actual Factual brings a new cub to school called Ferdy Factual, who is very smart but doesn't know about friends. Soon Queenie comes along and Ferdy teaches Queenie how to play chess. Brother, Freddie and Sister go and tell him that Queenie is pretending to be his friend to get homework answers from him. Ferdy tells them that it's not true, and ignores them. After school, Brother tells Ferdy to come to his place to play video games. He says he has homework, and Queenie comes along and she and Ferdy become homework partners. The next day, when Ferdy plays chess by himself again, he sees Brother playing with the ball. He asks him to pass the ball, but Brother refuses as he looks like he is pretending he does not want it. Eventually Brother throws the ball, but Ferdy talks to Queenie and does not see the ball coming. It hits him on the stomach. Queenie laughs and Ferdy runs away, Brother chases after him and tells Ferdy that he was showing off and apoligises.

At the Bear Country School, the cubs help Mr. Bob set up a TV station. The cubs become very involved and forget their schoolwork.
