[edit] Tsuna's family

[edit] Tsunayoshi "Tsuna" Sawada

(沢田 綱吉/ツナ Sawada Tsunayoshi/Tsuna?), Voiced by: Yukari Kokubun

Main article: Tsuna Sawada

Tsuna is a junior-high student and the Vongola Family's mob-boss-in-training. Since Tsuna is the great-great-great grandson of the first Vongola boss, who had moved to Japan a long time ago, he is recruited as the next boss. Also, the other candidates for the position of the head of the Vongola Family died.

[edit] Hayato Gokudera

(獄寺 隼人 Gokudera Hayato?), Voiced by: Hidekazu Ichinose

Main article: Hayato Gokudera

A transfer student that was placed in Tsuna's class. Gokudera, who had previously studied in Italy, is a dynamite expert nicknamed "Smokin' Bomb Hayato" (スモーキン・ボム 隼人 Sumōkin Bomu Hayato?). He keeps various explosives hidden on his person and uses those explosives liberally by lighting them with a cigarette (or several) held in his mouth.

[edit] Takeshi Yamamoto

(山本 武 Yamamoto Takeshi?), Voiced by: Suguru Inoue

Main article: Takeshi Yamamoto

Yamamoto is a seventh-grader and is the popular baseball star of Tsuna's school. He becomes friends with Tsuna, and Reborn tries to recruit him into the Vongola Famiglia. He hardly takes anything seriously, and is often "tricked" by Reborn because he thinks that "It's a game".

[edit] Ryohei Sasagawa

(笹川 了平 Sasagawa Ryōhei?), Voiced by: Hidenobu Kiuchi

Main article: Ryohei Sasagawa

Ryohei is a eighth-grader, and is member of the boxing club at Tsuna's school, which he repeatedly asks Tsuna to join. In response, Reborn wants to recruit him into Tsuna's family. Every time he sees Tsuna and his family doing something strange, he gets fired up and always wants to be a part of it.

[edit] Kyoya Hibari

(雲雀 恭弥 Hibari Kyōya?), Voiced by: Takashi Kondo

Main article: Kyoya Hibari

Hibari is the leader of the Discipline Committee, or Prefects, whose members happen to be a group of delinquents loyal to Hibari. Although he is a violent delinquent himself, who uses his status to harass others and cares little for his subordinates, he has great pride in his school. He prefers to be alone and uses a pair of tonfa as his main weapons.

[edit] Lambo

(ランボ Ranbo?), Voiced by: Junko Takeuchi (child), Kenjirou Tsuda (adult)

Main article: Lambo(Reborn!)

Lambo is a 5-year-old assassin affiliated with the Bovino ("Bovino" means "cow" in Italian) Famiglia. He was born in Italy on May 28 and has a blood type of A. His main choice of weapons are hand grenades, and his future dream is to rule the world. Lambo dresses in a cow suit complete with a tail, and has a huge afro with horns on the sides of his head which gives him the appearance of a bison. He comes to Japan to kill Reborn, so he can prove that he is worthy of becoming his own family's boss. However, he is a complete crybaby, and is no match for Reborn.

[edit] Chrome Dokuro

(クローム 髑髏 Kurōmu Dokuro?), Voiced by: Satomi Akesaka

A 13-year-old girl born in Japan on December 5, and wears a Kokuyo school uniform.

From what her parents talked about in a flashback, she was a girl known as Nagi and lived a non-social life. After rescuing a cat, she was badly injured in a car accident which lead to the loss of her right eye and some of her organs. The only way to save her life would be to have someone with the same blood type to transfer their organs to her. She did not care whether she lived or not and her parents refused the offer anyway. However, Mukuro Rokudo allowed her to live by creating illusionary organs. Chrome has been shown using two of Mukuro's six skills. It is suggested by Mukuro that she is a person similar to himself.

Chrome is also trying hard to learn Italian, since her goal is to someday be able to converse with Mukuro in Italian.[1][2]

Usually, Chrome is in control of her body, but if she is in an extremely dangerous situation, her body is surrounded by mist and Mukuro takes control, along with the body changing to Mukuro's appearance implying that it is different from Mukuro's ability to possess people. According to Reborn, you can not fully consider them as separate beings.

Chrome is chosen to be the holder of the Ring of Mist, but is overwhelmed during her battle against Mammon, leading Mukuro to take control and defeat Mammon.

After being transferred into the future, she is confronted by Glo Xinia in the Kokuyo Gang's hideout, which her future self apparently lived in. With the help of a Vongola ring and adult Mukuro's spirit, she is able to defeat Glo Xinia by creating illusions of Mukuro, Ken, and Chikusa. The illusions she created are "real", possessing temporary flesh, bone, and independent personalities.

Ryohei later brings a malnourished Chrome to Tsuna's underground base, where her condition takes a turn for the worse as several of her internal organs begin to fail. However, adult Hibari instructs her to use the power of her Vongola Ring to sustain her organs via her own illusions, thus avoiding any immediate danger. Later, in a dream where she is looking for Mukuro, she finds a room full of gears, but a younger version of Shoichi Irie appears. He then transforms into his future self and Chrome screams for Tsuna's help, who was dreaming the same thing.

Her last name, Dokuro, means "skull" in Japanese. Also, the Japanese rōmaji of her name, Kurōmu Dokuro, is an anagram of Mukuro Rokudō.

[edit] Vongola Family

Main article: Vongola Family

The Vongola Famiglia has long since been the most powerful Mafia family in all of Italy. They have had several other Mafia families serving them, including a few members from the infamous Arcobaleno. They also possess the Vongola Rings, which have been around since the founding of the Mafia underworld, and are usually in possession of the main Vongola members.

Affiliated organizations

[edit] Chiavorone Family

The Chiavorone Family (キャバッロネファミリー Kyabarrone Famirī?) is the number three family in its mafia alliance with the Vongola Family. The family is one of the largest, with 5,000 members at its disposal.

In the future, despite battling one of the Millefiore's squads, they are revealed to be alive and well, and will participate in the attack against the Millefiore Family's base.

[edit] Dino

(ディーノ Dīno?), Voiced by: Kenta Kamakari, Kenn (episode 34)

Dino is the 22-year-old 10th generation boss of the Chiavorone crime family, and was born on February 4 in Italy, with a blood type of O. Dino is a young man with great skills as a fighter and as a leader. His main weapons are a whip and his pet turtle, Enzo. Like Tsuna, Dino, at first, did not want anything to do with the Mafia and was also a klutz. He became a suitable Mafia boss after Reborn became his home tutor. He came to be known as "Bucking-Horse Dino" (跳ね馬ディーノ Haneuma Dīno?) ("Bronco Dino" in Viz's translation) and fixed the Chiavorone's financial problems, turning them into the third most influential family. Unfortunately, Dino is so devoted to his family, that when none of his family members are around, his skills decrease dramatically, often accidentally hitting people with his whip and falling down the stairs.

Dino becomes Hibari's home tutor in order to train the latter for the Vongola Tournament. Thus, Dino travels with Hibari around the country in order to train him.

Dino has a large tattoo sleeve that covers his left hand and most of his arm. According to Futa, Dino is the number one ranked Mafia member who cares for the welfare of civilians.

Enzo - Dino's pet turtle, which was created by Reborn's chameleon "partner" Leon. He initially wanted Leon, but he was given Enzo instead. Enzo, when soaked in water, can get bigger than a house and will begin to go on a rampage.

[edit] Romario

(ロマリオ Romario?), Voiced by: Kouichi Nagano

A Chiavorone subordinate; just as he serves as Dino's subordinate, he also served the former Chiavorone boss. Romario would often be the first person Dino calls on, and is usually by Dino's side. He, like the rest of Dino's family, is aware of the fact that Dino is a major klutz when he is not around his family.

While Dino was training Hibari, Romario meets and becomes friends with Kusakabe, Hibari's second-in-command in the Disciplinary Committee.

[edit] Tomaso Family

A rival family to the Vongola Family, the Tomaso Family has opposed the Vongolas ever since the beginning of the Mafia underground. During the second generation, the Tomaso Family waged a battle against the Vongolas (the outcome was not mentioned). The Tomaso Family's bosses are always named Longchamp.

It is suggested in the future that the Tomaso Family remained close with Tsuna all these years, but nine years and ten months later, they are targeted by the Millefiore Family. Two days prior to Tsuna's arrival in the future, the Vongolas have already lost all contact with them and have since been reported missing.

The family's name is most likely based on the name of an Italian car company called De Tomaso. The company has produced cars such as the De Tomaso Longchamp, De Tomaso Mangusta, De Tomaso Pantera, and De Tomaso Vallelunga (Lunga), which are the names of the known Tomaso Family members.

The Tomaso Family has so far been a manga only family, making no appearance in the anime version of the series.

[edit] Longchamp Naito

(内藤 ロンシャン Naitō Ronshan?)

Longchamp is the overly hyper, eighth generation Tomaso boss-in-training. He happens to attend the same school as Tsuna, but they first meet in their second year when Longchamp ended up in the same class as Tsuna. Unlike Tsuna, Longchamp is optimistic and is excited about everything, including being part of the Mafia. Though their families are rivals, he constantly befriends Tsuna, even inviting him to his house and going on group dates. Longchamp is known to have a unique taste in women; also, he usually has a new girlfriend every time Tsuna meets him. Some of these girls do not seem to like him so much and may actually despise him.

Naito has a tattoo on his chest that reads "De Tomaso", the full surname of the Tomaso Family. He also has a weird habit of collecting unusual objects, including dead batteries and condiment packets, and his bedroom is covered with junk as a result of his hoarding habits.

His family is the creator of the Desolation Bullet. When shot and revived, the person will grieve about all the terrible things that have happened in their life, making others feel sorry for them.

[edit] Mungster

(マングスタ Mangusuta?)

Mungster is Longchamp's subordinate, who is usually the one who shoots Longchamp with the Desolation Bullet in order to get everyone to side with him out of pity. Mungster is featured to be a long and thin person, who does not like the Vongola Family, always telling Longchamp not to get involved with Tsuna and his friends since they are enemies. Along with Longchamp, he also shoots Tsuna, Ryohei and Dr. Shamal with the Desolation Bullet as well.

[edit] Pantera

(パンテーラ Pantēra?)

Another one of Longchamp's subordinates who seems to dislike him. She would usually try to kill Longchamp, but he believes it to be just a game she is playing with him.

[edit] Lunga

(ルンガ Runga?)

Longchamp's short subordinate who barely speaks. It is said that he only speaks when he is brought a certain flower. The only time he spoke was when he was scolding a member of his band, who seemed to have been forced to enter the band.

[edit] Millefiore Family

Main article: Millefiore Family

The Millefiore Family is the Mafia family that is engaged in battle against the Vongola Family in the future. Its origins are unknown, however, the leader, Byakuran, has made a great deal of effort to eliminate every single one of the Vongola Family's members and allies.

Members

[edit] Miscellaneous Mafia families

In addition to the main Mafia families in the series, there are many other various mafia families who are given small roles or are mentioned on occasion during the series.

Bovino
The Bovino Family is Lambo's Mafia family. The boss of the family did not mind when Lambo was chosen to be a Vongola guardian, instead saying it was an honor and cried out with joy when he heard Lambo was the new holder of the Ring of Thunder. They also possess the technology of the Ten-Year Bazooka, a bazooka capable of replacing their present self with their future self from ten years in the future. They seem to be a very reclusive Mafia family, not getting in trouble with other families and respecting the authority of the Vongola Family.
Bovino means 'cow' in Italian.
Todd
The Todd Family is the Mafia family that chases Futa for his ranking abilities. The only three members revealed were Rossie, Paulo, and Enzo.
Gospela
The Gospela Family is a Mafia family that has been selling guns to punks on Dino's turf, causing innocent people to be hurt. Their fate is unknown as Dino plans to teach their most influential members a lesson.
Momokyokai
The Momokyokai is a Yakuza group that controls the area around Tsuna's home. They are severely beaten by Tsuna and Dino after Reborn and Dino test Gokudera and Yamamoto's loyalty to Tsuna.
Carcassa
The Carcassa Family is the Mafia family that attacks Mafia Island during Tsuna and his family's visit there. They are one of the families that do not participate in the island's existence and sent a spy disguised as Naito Longchamp's new girlfriend Lenko to infiltrate it.
Nero
The Nero Family is one of the families vacationing on Mafia Island during Tsuna's visit. Claiming to control all of Asia, they propose that they lead the island's defense during Carcassa's attack, but they support Tsuna when they hear he is from the Vongola.
Beccio
The Beccio Family is one of the families vacationing on Mafia Island during Tsuna's visit. Since they have a tradition of history and rules, they propose that they lead the island's defense during Carcassa's attack, but they support Tsuna when they hear he is from the Vongola.
Nubo Gang
The Nubo Gang is one of the groups vacationing on Mafia Island during Tsuna's visit. Claiming to own New York, they propose that they lead the island's defense during Carcassa's attack, but they support Tsuna when they hear he is from the Vongola.

[edit] Cervello

(チェルベッロ Cheruberro?)

Cervello is an organization whose representatives consist of women who all seem to look exactly the same and whose names are not known. The organization also appears to possess illusionists. Under the IX's direct orders, they are proclaimed as the judges for the ring battles. However, by the end of the Vongola Tournament, it is revealed that the IX they received orders from was a fake.

In the future, they are revealed to be working for the Millefiore Family. They appear to be part of the White Spell and are working with or in conjunction with Shoichi Irie.

The name Cervello can be translated as 'brain' in Italian.

[edit] Arcobaleno

'Arcobaleno' means 'rainbow' in Italian and it is also the name of the group of the seven strongest infants. Most members have a pet, as well as each possessing a pacifier colored as one of the colors of the rainbow — each color also corresponds with their Dying Will Flame. Most also have a pet with special abilities. When a member of the Arcobaleno nears another member, both of their pacifiers will glow.

It has been implied that being an Arcobaleno is a curse, which is linked to the pacifiers. They were transformed from adults into their current forms; in a picture, Lal Mirch and Colonnello are shown to have been adults; also, in Lal's flashback of the day they were turned into babies, all seven of the Arcobaleno are partially shown in their adult forms (Colonnello was not part of the seven, but he becomes an Arcobaleno after his attempt to take Lal's place).[3] According to Colonnello's conversation with Lal, each of the Arcobaleno has their own curse and specific abilities. They can also emit the Dying Will Flame throughout their entire body.[4]

In the future, Lal Mirch reveals that the rest of the Arcobaleno are dead. Their deaths are hinted to have been caused by radiation that Byakuran unleashed in the atmosphere called the "Negative Seven Rays", which is specifically designed to slowly kill the Arcobaleno.[3]

Currently, only six of the seven Arcobaleno have been mentioned. However, when Ryohei later gives I-Pin a doll of her master, the doll is shown to have an Arcobaleno pacifier. Another one is partially shown in Lal's flashback. Also, one of Millefiore's leaders, Uni, possesses the orange pacifier which was passed down to her from her mother -- it is unclear if either is actually part of the Arcobaleno.

The Arcobeleno pacifiers are key to the Millefiore's world dominance as they need the 7 Mare rings, the 7 Vongola rings and the 7 Arcobaleno pacifiers to gain "ultimate power."

[edit] Reborn

(リボーン Ribōn?), Voiced by: Neeko

Holder of the Yellow pacifier.

The infant hitman, who becomes Tsuna's home tutor, and drags him into becoming a mob boss. Vongola IX's most trusted hitman, Reborn is sent to train Tsuna. Despite being a mere one year old infant, he behaves as a seasoned mafioso.

Reborn often says "Ciao-su" (a mix of the Italian "ciao" and the Japanese "osu", which is a casual male greeting). He appears to see nothing unusual in any of his own behavior and has an unlimited supply of various clothing. He also has several hidden compartments all around town. Sometimes seen covered in insects, Reborn claims that they are his "ears and eyes" all over town, obtaining information before anyone else.

Since he is an official member of the Vongola Family and is only there to train Tsuna, he is not allowed to directly interfere with most of Tsuna's battles other than to shoot special bullets. He is, however, allowed to defend against attacks directed solely at him.

In the future, Reborn's future self is not seen as he is mentioned to be dead. In order to avoid the Negative Seven Rays, the past's Reborn remains in Tsuna's underground base and wears a special suit. When he agrees to train Yamamoto in the future, his shadow looks like that of an older man, and he suggests that he has a "true form." He later indicates to Yamamoto that he has been training since before he became a baby. He may have a Sun dying will flame as evidence of the yellow pacifier this has not been proven and may prove false.

In certain occasions, Reborn randomly disappears and reappears as "another person", wearing a different outfit along with a fake name, who no one except Tsuna recognizes.

Known aliases include:

Master Pao-Pao - A master fighter from Thailand. He wears an elephant hat, red boxing gloves, and a tiny goatee. He usually appears in scenes where Ryohei is present.

Rebo-Yama - A substitute teacher for Tsuna's class. He switches his clothes into a typical teacher outfit. He teaches the class with fear by throwing bombs and also chalk, which disentegrates due to high velocity. He spurts the same hair style as Yamamoto hence the name "Rebo-Yama" .

Vongolasky - Reborn wears a typical set of Russian clothing, but does not change his personality.

Mr. Sawada - Appears in Tsuna's room when Hana Kurokawa visits Tsuna. He wears gigantic glasses, and a robe.

Dr. Borin - Supposedly one of the most prestigious mathematicians known in the world. In this case, he does not change into a different outfit.

Leon (レオン Reon?) - Reborn's chameleon "partner", who sits on Reborn's fedora. He can change shape and color as per Reborn's desire, provided he is familiar with the object he will turn into and the object is roughly his size. The bullets used by Reborn are created inside Leon. When Reborn's student is gradually progressing, Leon's tail falls off, his shape-shifting abilities becomes unstable, he is no longer able to create bullets, and wraps himself in a spheric cocoon. After this stage, Leon creates special items for the student, then returns to his normal self.

[edit] Colonnello

(コロネロ Koronero?), Voiced by: Daisuke Nakamura

Holder of the Blue pacifier.

Colonnello is in charge of the training ground behind Mafia Land and was a former member of the COMSUBIN, an elite Italian Navy unit. Colonnello acts like a rival towards Reborn and vice-versa; they would often consider each other's attacks weak and then proceeds to attack the other. Though they are rivals, he shares many traits with Reborn, like being a merciless tutor, suddenly taking naps, and having a sharp tongue.

Being a former military member, Colonnello is not averse to using heavy artillery; he was able to destroy an entire fleet of ships with one anti-tank rifle. This fits well with his name as it means 'colonel' in Italian.

An eagle on top of his head helps him fly to distant places in a short amount of time. It also seems to be in synch with Colonnello: when Colonnello naps, the eagle naps.

During the Vongola Tournament, he becomes Ryohei's home tutor and actually lives in his house.

In the future, it is revealed that, as an adult, Colonnello followed the seven Arcobaleno on the day that they were turned into babies in an attempt to take Lal's place. This resulted in him attaining the blue pacifier meant for Lal,[4] and consequently turning Lal, who was his former instructor in the COMSUBIN, into an incomplete Arcobaleno.[3] However, he is said to have died, with a Millefiore member, who was formerly known as "Ginger Bread", claiming that he died trying to protect Viper.[5][3]

[edit] Skull

(スカル Skaru?), Voiced by: Tetsuya Yanagihara

Holder of the Purple pacifier.

Head of the combat forces of the Calcassa Family. He wears a full leather outfit and a motorcycle helmet, which is copied by all his subordinates.

However, Skull is not as powerful of an infant as Reborn and Colonnello. He is looked down upon by the other two and is even called stupid by them. He calls the two his senpais and is easily irritated by Reborn's comments about him and his pet octopus; Reborn keeps telling him to eat the octopus already. Reborn considers Skull as always being someone's errand boy and Skull, to his dismay, does not deny the fact that the only person he was an errand boy to was Reborn.

In the future, he is mentioned to be dead.

Skull's pet is a giant armored octopus whose tentacles follow Skull's hand and finger movements.

[edit] Viper

(バイパー Baipā?), Voiced by: Rumi Shishido

Holder of the Indigo Pacifier.

A member of the elite assassination team, the Varia under the name Mammon (マーモン Māmon?). He battles Chrome in the gym of Namimori High. Though he almost defeats Chrome, the tables turn against him once Mukuro takes possession of Chrome's body. As a result, Viper is defeated by Mukuro and loses the right to the Ring of Mist to Chrome.

Due to having sealed his pacifier, Reborn and Colonnello initially have doubts of whether he is an Arcobaleno. He claims that, unlike his colleagues, he has been trying to break the curse. Due to extensive research, he created a chain that is able to conceal the power of the Arcobaleno pacifiers, as well as the Vongola Rings. This chain is used in the future by Lal Mirch in order to avoid having their rings tracked down by the Millefiore, and to chain her pacifier, which is kept in one of her boxes. However, he is said to be dead in the future, with Ginger Bread claiming that he took his own life after feeling there was no other way out.

He has the special power to find a person's location by sneezing into a piece of paper (he carries a roll of paper with him); the spit or mucus that sticks to the paper shows a map leading to the desired person. He, like Mukuro, can create illusions as his main attack.

He has a black frog named Fantasma that lies on top of his head. By turning into a yellow salamander and biting its tail turning into a "halo" similar to an Ouroboros, Fantasma can give Mammon the ability to fly in combat.

[edit] Verde

(ヴェルデ Verude?)

Holder of the Green pacifier.

Verde has yet to be shown, but was briefly mentioned by Reborn in volume 7 of the manga as the person who sent two assassins to kill Tsuna. Apparently, Verde has knowledge about camouflage and invisibility, so he gave his subordinates suits that can make them invisible to everyone but children. Since he too is a child, Verde believed that he should be able to see his subordinates, in case they ever try to sneak up and to try to kill him.

Verde was also one of the three scientists who developed the ring boxes in the future, where he is said to be dead.

Verde means "green" in Italian.

[edit] Lal Mirch

(ラル・ミルチ Raru Miruchi?)

Holder of a corrupted Blue pacifier, though initially, her pacifier had no color.

A female member of the Arcobaleno, who states that she cannot live up to the Arcobaleno name[6], considering herself to be one of its weakest members. She is also part of the Vongola's CEDEF, or Outside Advisors.

She assists Iemitsu's team in reaching the Vongola IX during the Vongola Tournament. Her future self ends up as a major ally for Tsuna and his family in the future. Since the rest of the Arcobaleno are dead in the future, Lal continues to age, and also suffers from an illness due to a "defect" and overexposure to the Negative Seven Rays. She wears goggles because her right eye is damaged.

She is later convinced by Reborn to train Tsuna, Gokudera, and Yamamoto, instead of trying to assassinate Byakuran alone. As their instructor, she is very tough and strict on them. According to Reborn, she shows her emotions easily and is very readable.

It is revealed that Lal Mirch was Colonnello's former instructor in the COMSUBIN.[7] In her flashback of the day they were all turned into babies, it is shown that Colonnello's attempt to take her place resulted in her "curse" being incomplete, thus clouding her pacifier. However, if she does not use her Arcobaleno powers, her curse would gradually disappear, which is why she eventually becomes an adult again.[3]

Since she is not a complete member of the Arcobaleno, her pacifier initially does not have a color, and as such, is simply colored gray. However, upon using her Arcobaleno powers in the future, her pacifier glows blue, and she states that her pacifier was supposed to be the blue pacifier that Colonnello attained since her original wave energy was rain. Due to the incomplete transformation, her wave energy changed to both the mist and cloud energies, and also caused the scars on her face.[4]

[edit] Kokuyo Junior High Gang

The Kokuyo Junior High Gang is a group of Mafia criminals who have even committed crimes against the Mafia. Due to this, they were held in a special, high security jail in Italy. When Mukuro, Chikusa, and Ken broke out, many other criminals were able to break out some time later. They later joined Mukuro and his group.

[edit] Mukuro Rokudo

(六道 骸 Rokudō Mukuro?), Voiced by: Toshinobu Iida

Main article: Mukuro Rokudo

Mukuro is a 15-year-old mafia criminal and leader of the Kokuyo Gang. Before he was to be executed, he, along with his two subordinates, escaped from an Italian prison, which held some of the most dangerous mafia criminals. Not long after, they came to Japan, enrolled in Kokuyo Junior High, and started a gang.

[edit] Chikusa Kakimoto

(柿本 千種 Kakimoto Chikusa?), Voiced by: Toshiyuki Toyonaga

A friend and follower of Mukuro, Chikusa broke out of prison with him. He has a barcode on his left cheek. Like Mukuro and Ken, Chikusa was also experimented on by the Estraneo Family. He decided to follow Mukuro when the boy killed their captors, and offered them to come with him.

His main weapons are a pair of metal yo-yos which shoots poisonous needles. He demonstrates this when he is sent to gather information from Gokudera about the tenth boss of the Vongola Family. Though he lost, he figured out Tsuna was the tenth boss, when the latter intervened, and was able to poison Gokudera before leaving. He was later defeated again by a severely injured Kyoya Hibari. Despite his injured body being used by Mukuro during the latter's battle against Tsuna, he remains extremely loyal to Mukuro. He, along with the rest of the gang, was taken away by the Vendicare, but later escaped.

During the Vongola Tournament, he returned with Ken and Chrome, who possesses Mukuro's spirit. Since Mukuro does not completely control Chrome, Chikusa and Ken often protect the girl, despite their apparent dislike for her.

[edit] Ken Joshima

(城島 犬 Jōshima Ken?), Voiced by: Ryō Naitō

Friend and follower of Mukuro, Ken broke out of prison with him. He has a scar that stretches across his face. Like Mukuro and Chikusa, Ken was also experimented on by the Estraneo Family. The experimentations done on Ken involved giving him attributes of certain animals when he changes to different sets of teeth. He decided to follow Mukuro when the boy killed their captors, and offered them to come with him. He was Chikusa's cellmate in jail and often calls him 'Kakipi' .

When Ken changes to a different set of teeth, he could adopt the abilities of various animals, like wolves, lions, cheetahs, gorillas and even rhinoceros. He dubs his various forms "channels", comparing it to changing game cartridges. With them, his agility, strength, and senses increase. He was defeated by Yamamoto and was later defeated once again by an injured Kyoya Hibari. Despite his injured body being used by Mukuro during the latter's battle against Tsuna, he remains extremely loyal to Mukuro. He, along with the rest of the gang, was taken away by the Vendicare, but later escaped.

Ken often mocks and berates Chrome every chance he gets, showing his evident dislike for the girl.

[edit] Lancia

(ランチア Ranchia?), Voiced by: Takeshi Maeda

Born in Italy on December 15 with a blood type of O, Lancia is a 25-year-old Mafia criminal. He is initially mistaken as Mukuro Rokudo due to a photo of him standing between Ken and Chikusa. In his encounter with Tsuna's group, he nearly dominates the lot, but is later overtaken by Tsuna's Dying Will. Tsuna expresses that Lancia is not an evil person, and that his spirit was not in the battle. He admits defeat and reveals that he is not the real Mukuro Rokudo. He reveals his past, but before he could tell him about Mukuro's objective, he is silenced by Chikusa's needles. After Mukuro is defeated, he is taken away by the Vendicare.

When explaining his past, Lancia reveals that he was one of the first people that Mukuro had controlled. When he was young, he was an orphan, but was later adopted by the leader of a Mafia family in Northern Italy. Since he never really had a real family, he grew up to love this family like it was his own. Later, Mukuro was adopted by the family, and Lancia treated him like he was part of the family. Unfortunately, Mukuro later controlled Lancia and made him kill his own family. He had suffered many blackouts, and every time, he would wake up with a bunch of corpses lying in front of him. He tried to commit suicide, but he was completely under Mukuro's control, unable to do anything about it even though he knew he was being controlled. Soon after, he was captured and sent to jail. He spent so much time under Mukuro's control, that he lost his will to fight and even forgot his own name. Apparently, he also became sensitive to Mukuro's thoughts due to being possessed by him so many times, a ability he finds very annoying.

During the Vongola Tournament, he returns to aid Tsuna against the Varia. It is revealed then that he is the strongest person in Northern Italy. He left for Italy again after giving Tsuna a ring from his family. This ring is later revealed as being a Vongola ring of unknown attribute and purity.

He uses a giant steel ball and chain, which he launches at the enemy using palm thrusts. Due to the ball's snake-like engravings on the surface, it can track and redirect air currents, thus allowing Lancia to change its rotation in mid-air (similar to a baseball)

[edit] M. M.

(エム・エム Emu Emu?), Voiced by: Shōko Ishii

Though not an official student of Kokuyo Junior High, she wears the school uniform under Mukuro's orders. M.M. believes that money is the most important thing, which is why she teamed up with Mukuro's gang. After her defeat at the hands of Bianchi, she was later taken away by the Vendicare.

Her weapon is a clarinet that is constructed like a microwave oven. When played, the clarinet creates special sound waves that cause atoms to vibrate at a rate of five billion times per second, resulting in the substance the clarinet is aimed at, to boil instantly. She calls the attack Burning Vibrato. When in close range combat, her clarinet splits, becoming a pair of nunchaku, which she is very skilled in using.

[edit] Birds

(バーズ Bāzu?), Voiced by: Takahiro Hirano

Another former prisoner who broke out after Mukuro escaped. Like M.M., he wears a Kokuyo uniform, but is not actually a student there. Unlike the rest of the gang, Birds has no physical talent, but rather uses his brains to defeat his enemies. He tried to get Tsuna to kill himself or else he would have had the Twins kill Haru and Kyoko, who did not know they were being followed. His plan failed when I-Pin, Lambo and Dr. Shamal came to the girls' rescue. When Gokudera kicked him once in the gut, Birds was knocked out, and was later taken away by the Vendicare.

Like his name suggests, his hobby is collecting and training birds. His birds all have cameras inside of them and are used for spying purposes. However, one of his birds eventually becomes attached to Hibari.

He is a bit of a sadist, as he is seen getting nosebleeds from seeing peoples' expression of fear and torment.

[edit] Twins (Jiji/Didi)

(ツインズ(ジジ・ヂヂ) Tsuinzu (Jiji/Jiji)?)

A pair of serial killers who do not speak and are loyal to Birds. They were locked up with restraints that were never removed for the entire ten years they have been in jail, and because of that their faces became deformed, with no nose and almost no eyes. Under Birds' orders they stalked Kyoko and Haru without being noticed by them and almost poured sulfuric acid on them. They were defeated by I-Pin and Dr. Shamal, and were later taken away by the Vendicare.

[edit] Miscellaneous hitmen and mafiosi

[edit] I-Pin

(イーピン Īpin?), Voiced by: Li Mei Chan

I-Pin is an assassin from Hong Kong. Even though the 5-year-old I-Pin cannot speak Japanese, the 15-year-old "Adult I-Pin" eventually enters a Japanese College, and despite the fact that she is one of the most promising young assassins (Futa ranked her as being the third out of 52,262 people for being a promising assassin), she works part-time at a Chinese Restaurant ten years later, though she still retains her skills.

I-Pin's main ability is the usage of Gyoza-Ken, combining her martial arts abilities with special gyoza dumplings laced with the scent of garlic. The garlic in the gyoza numbs the brain and forces the muscles to involuntarily move on their own. Since no one senses the garlic, people believe that I-Pin is using psychic abilities. Each of her gyoza contain the essence of 5 million normal gyoza, and as such if they are eaten by anyone not trained in the Gyoza-Ken, the person will die. Luckily, I-Pin's master has an antidote.

However, I-Pin's most destructive ability is the "Pinzu-Timed Super Explosion", activated when ever I-Pin expresses extreme shyness. At this moment of emotional turbulence, a special countdown begins where pin-numbers (such as used in mah jong) appear on her forehead, counting down one by one until it reaches "one", turning her into a human bomb that can create a small crater with its destruction. Ten years later, I-Pin gets this ability sealed away, but can still activate it under the usage of a special key word which seems to be "broccoli monster".

Her future self is revealed to have been protecting adult Haru and Kyoko, but is then switched with her 5-year-old self, when the latter is shot by the Ten-Year Bazooka. Ryohei later gives her a doll of her master, which is shown to have an Arcobaleno pacifier.

She would often beat up Lambo because she sees him as a 'broccoli monster,' due to her near-sightedness. She also has a crush on Kyoya Hibari, who looks like her master, and every time she sees him, she gets shy and activates the Pinzu-Timed Super Explosion.

[edit] Bianchi

(ビアンキ Bianki?), Voiced by: Rie Tanaka

Bianchi is Gokudera's half-sister; they share the same father. Bianchi, known as "Poison Scorpion Bianchi" in the Mafia underground, specializes in poison cooking. Since she, herself, is immune to her own cooking, she does not see anything wrong with the food she gives others. She is in love with Reborn, who was a former associate of hers, and wants to kill Tsuna to free up Reborn's schedule, though refuses to kill him for the benefit of others.

In the future, Bianchi had traveled with Futa in order to gather information, but later returns, revealing crucial information about the Millefiore Family. According to Tsuna, she hasn't changed on the outside but her feelings are more passionate, but this could be attributed to the fact that in this era Reborn is dead. She trains Gokudera on how to control the rings and boxes, but he later trains on his own. She has a Storm type flame, and when she combines her box and ring, she is able to summon scorpions which emanate the Dying Will Flame, called Scorpione De Tempesta (Storm Scorpions).

Bianchi always states that "Love" is the strongest force of all.

Even though they seem to have a strained relationship, she has shown great concern for Gokudera if he is injured, fighting, or suffering from stomach aches, which she does not realize are caused by her. Gokudera once said that one of the reasons Bianchi's poison cooking is so strong is because every time she created a new type of poison cooking, she would test it on him.

[edit] Doctor Shamal

(Dr. シャマル Dr. Shamaru?), Voiced by: Toshinobu Katsuya

A crazed womanizer who hits on every cute woman he sees. Though often unsuccessful, he is always seen hitting on one woman and then instantly moves on to hit on the next woman that passes by him. He is said to be hiding in Japan after putting the moves on a queen, charging him for putting the moves on 2082 women simultaneously.

Putting aside his normal attitude, Shamal happens to be a notorious assassin called "Trident Shamal", and is also a renowned doctor, who refuses to treat men. Reborn claims Dr. Shamal had a hand in handling his [Reborn]'s birth. He uses trident mosquitoes, one of which is named Angela, to infect his targets with deadly illnesses. His assassination skill is so great that he was once asked to join the Varia.

Also, since he naturally contracts viruses and diseases easily, he carries 666 pills that contain mosquitoes infected with deadly diseases. He claims to be infected with 666 diseases, but is not dead because all his diseases negate each other; if he has a disease that rapidly decreases body temperature, then he has another one that increases it.

Shamal also happens to be the one that introduced Gokudera to bombs when he used to work for Gokudera's family. Gokudera initially wanted to learn how to use the Trident Mosquito, but Shamal taught him how to use mid-ranged weapons instead. Gokudera got himself hurt when using the bombs to save others. Shamal then quit teaching him, because he can't protect others when he couldn't protect himself.

During the Vongola Tournament, he becomes Gokudera's home tutor after Gokudera realized his life was important.

[edit] Futa

(フゥ太 Fūta?), Voiced by: Yuko Sanpei

A young boy who ranks people by their abilities in a book half his own height but it somehow fits inside his jacket pocket. He has an extremely wide range of knowledge on thousands of people and is considered to be an invaluable informant for the Mafia, sometimes being paid insane amounts of money for a copy of certain rankings.

When he starts ranking people, gravity around him becomes distorted, making objects around him float, and images of stars and galaxies appear in his eyes. It is unknown how he actually gathers his information (some say he communicates with the ranking stars in the galaxy), but if he does not instantly write it down, he claims to forget about it. Rain weakens Futa, however, resulting in his rankings being somewhat incorrect when it rains. He also has to be looking at the person to determine their rankings. Still, when done right, his rankings are said to be 100% accurate and if a person gets hold of his book, they will have the world at their mercy.

He calls Tsuna his big brother and has ranked him last on every aspect of combat, but was overjoyed to see that his rankings on him were wrong, not realizing Tsuna was in Dying Will Mode. Futa's book is the reason why he is constantly being chased by the Mafia, so Tsuna allows Futa to live in his house.

Futa is later kidnapped and controlled by Mukuro Rokudo in order to obtain his ranking list of the strongest fighters of Namimori High. Although, due to Futa's bond with Tsuna, he was able to break free from Mukuro's control.

In the future, Futa traveled with Bianchi in order to gather information, but later comes back and reveals crucial information about the Millefiore Family. Futa also reveals that he was Lambo's guardian until three years before Tsuna's arrival in the future.

[edit] Koenig

Koenig is one of the three scientists who created the ring boxes. He is the only living member of the original three man team, and has currently gone underground as an arms dealer.

[edit] Innocenti

Innocenti is the third scientist who helped create the ring boxes. He is said to be the most artistic of the three box makers, favouring strange configerations and occult decorations. He is presumed dead.

[edit] Parenza and Tras

Parenza and Tras are assassins loyal to Verde. They wear special camouflage suits in order to remain invisible to everyone except children. They were sent to kill Tsuna with a lethal injection, but they fail due to Gokudera's interference.

[edit] Others

[edit] Kyoko Sasagawa

(笹川 京子 Sasagawa Kyōko?), Voiced by: Yuuna Inamura

Kyoko is the girl that Tsuna admires. She is somewhat air headed, not questioning the idea of an infant being in the Mafia, and like Yamamoto, probably thinks it is all just a game. She is also the second person to take the Dying Will Shot in the series; her form is more quiet and polite, yet she will still break things to prove her point.

She first sees Tsuna in action after being sent nine years and ten months into the future right when her future self was being attacked by Millefiore members. Her future self was attending a seminar camp before being replaced with her younger self. Though she is not informed of the Mafia, she seems to notice what really is going on.

The day before the attack, she thanks Tsuna for saving her when she had just appeared in the future. She also fixed Tsuna's shirt and gave it an inside pocket to keep the charm she had given him during the ring battles.

[edit] Haru Miura

(三浦 ハル Miura Haru?), Voiced by: Hitomi Yoshida

Haru is the girl who likes Tsuna, and attends Midori Middle School, one of the toughest elite schools to get into in the area. She initially adored Reborn, but after she was saved by Tsuna, she diverted her adoration towards him instead. She loves children and is usually the one to babysit Lambo and I-Pin.

According to Tsuna and Gokudera, adult Haru has become more feminine, but her way of thinking is still the same.

After Reborn told Haru of the devastation in the future, hiding from her details about the Mafia, Haru seems to lose her calm and cries, begging to be taken back home, leading Kyoko to comfort her.

During an argument, Tsuna tells her that she does not understand anything, but Haru states that she is always there to listen, and that Tsuna has never tried to explain anything. Though she leaves the room crying, they later reconcile after Tsuna apologizes.

[edit] Hana Kurokawa

(黒川 花 Kurokawa Hana?), Voiced by: Miki Ootani

A classmate of Tsuna and Kyoko's friend. She has a crush on the 15-year-old "Adult Lambo", but ironically, she hates children (especially Lambo), to the point where she gets hives when she gets annoyed by them.

She appears more observant and thoughtful than most of the other female characters; she knows that Tsuna has a crush on Kyoko. Also, in the Vongola Tournament, she was the one who realized something was odd with Ryohei and Tsuna. Though she does not know the truth, she remains suspicious of Tsuna's and his friends' activities, even in the future.

In the future, Hana takes young Kyoko to her house, giving her Ryohei's message. It also appears that Hana is now married, but his identity is not revealed; only his silhouette is shown in their picture.

[edit] Nana Sawada

(沢田 奈々 Sawada Nana?), Voiced by: Rica Fukami

Tsuna's mother, who, despite caring deeply for him, has fairly little belief in her son succeeding in life: she does not expect him to get into a good college, has an outburst claiming that her son is a loser, is eternally grateful for Haru wanting to be his girlfriend despite how pathetic he is in her eyes, etc. She helps feed all the people that are presently living in her house and does not see anything strange with any of them. She seems to be unaware of the fact that both her husband and her son are part of the Mafia.

In the future, she was revealed to be on vacation with her husband in Italy when the Millefiore Family attacked the Vongola headquarters; her current condition is unknown.

[edit] The Crime Brothers

The Crime Brothers are a group of three men who appear in volume 4 and are bent on stealing money from Tsuna's mother, Nana Sawada. Fortunately, Lambo, Bianchi, I-Pin and Reborn unintentionally foil all their plans. In the end, Tsuna drags them all to the police with his Dying Will, but is arrested as well due to the officer branding him as an exhibitionist (since he was only wearing boxers at the time).
