List of Police Squad! episodes

The following is a complete episode list for the ABC crime sitcom Police Squad!. It stars Leslie Nielsen in a role that was written especially for him[1] as Detective Lieutenant Frank Drebin of the police squa!, a special force of the police department. The show was cancelled after four episodes[2], though two more were made but not broadcast. These four episodes gained a strong cult following through repeats on TV[3], which led to the 1988 movie version The Naked Gun: From The Files of Police Squad! and its sequels.
Many gags from the show were recycled for the films. Every episode had a special guest star who is introduced in the opening credits, but then meets a grisly death during the introduction[2], thus completing their appearance on the show. The opening sequence of each episode ends with an on-screen graphic listing the title of the episode, accompanied by an announcer's voiceover intentionally giving a different title for the episode.
