List of Pokémon episodes (season 2)

This is a list of episodes in the second season of the Pokémon animated series (ポケットモンスター Poketto Monsutā?, Pocket Monsters), covering the adventures of series protagonist Ash Ketchum and his friends and his adventures in the Orange Islands. It is often referred to by the informal name Pokémon: The Orange Island League to differentiate it from later, named seasons.
The division between seasons of Pokémon is based on the openings of each episode, and may not reflect the actual production season(although, it should be noted that in both the English and Japanese versions, the new opening did not begin at the season's opening episode, but at the episode "The Lost Lapras"). The English episode numbers are based on their first airing in the United States either in syndication, on the WB Television Network, or on Cartoon Network. (Other English-speaking nations largely followed either this order or the Japanese order.) Subsequent airings of the English version follow the original Japanese order, except in the case of episodes which are no longer shown in English.
This season aired first-run episodes in Japan from February 4, 1999, to October 7, 1999. In the United States, it aired from in January 8, 2000, to October 14, 2000. It originally aired as part of the 2000 Kids' WB! weekday and Saturday morning line-ups.In 2007,starting from the episode The Pokémon Water War, Pokémon started airing on Toonami Jetstream (although these episdes were counted as Pokémon Johto Journey episodes). In this season, Ash captures a Lapras and a Snorlax. The Lapras is then released.—

| Ash and company are on the island, and they are searching for Professor Ivy, so they can receive a mysterious Pokéball called the GS Ball. They arrived at a Pokémon Laboratory where they met a girl. She shows them the GS Ball which is a mysterious Pokéball with special properties that they cannot open. It cannot be transported. They tell Professor Oak about the mysterious Pokéball over the phone. They are to give it to Professor Oak for examination. | |||

| After the blimp they were on crashes, Ash and Misty walk around this island to discover a Lapras being picked on by a trio of trainers. Ash and Misty decide to step in, but once they dispelled these bullies they find a Pokémon Watcher named Tracey Sketchit come by and help them out. However, when Team Rocket goes to steal the Lapras, Ash must get it back. This was the first episode to feature the new U.S. opening theme. | |||
