List of Pokémon episodes (season 1)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is a list of episodes in the first season of the Pokémon animated series (ポケットモンスター Poketto Monsutā?, Pocket Monsters), covering the introduction of series protagonist Ash Ketchum and his friends and his adventures on the way to the Indigo League. It is often referred to by the informal name Pokémon: The Indigo League to differentiate it from later, named seasons. On November 21, 2006 the first twenty-six episodes of this season were released on DVD, with "Beauty and the Beach" being skipped. The second part of the first season came out on November 13, 2007 as listed on Amazon with the third and final part released on February 12, 2008.

The division between seasons of Pokémon is based on the openings of each episode, and may not reflect the actual production season. The English episode numbers are based on their first airing in the United States in syndication, on the WB Television Network or on Cartoon Network. (Other English-speaking nations largely followed either this order or the Japanese order.) Subsequent airings of the English version follow the original Japanese order, except in the case of episodes which are no longer shown in English.

The original Japanese series of Pokémon debuted on Japanese television on March 21, 1997, in which Ash Ketchum sets out on his first-ever quest to meet the first of his favorite Pokémon. The original title for the series was The Adventures of Pokémon (aka Pokémon: Adventures in the Kanto League). The remastered first season aired first-run episodes in Japan from April 1, 1997, to December 16, 1997, then from April 16, 1998, to January 28, 1999. In the United States, the first season aired from September 8, 1998, to December 4, 1999. In the United States, it originally aired on UPN from in 1998, from September 8 to October 30, but was moved mid-way through the season to to the Kids' WB!'s weekday and Saturday morning line-ups on February 13, 1999.
