[edit] Detailed synopsis of final episode

Christina holds the Kramer family hostage, attempting to have an ordinary family dinner and citing a couple of hard days as an excuse for her behaviour. However, she strikes Ben Kramer blind because he wouldn't ever listen and she eventually brings back the animated corpse of Isabella Kramer, saying that Judy Kramer previously had the chance to ask Christina to do this but wouldn't because she was jealous of her sister, but Judy says she didn't want Christina to bring back Isabella as a thing.

Holly attempts to seduce Terry, saying she has faith in him as the better man in an attempt to win him to her cause. Terry tells Amber Hargrove to leave town, and on the phone tells Paula Hargrove, "You were hotter when you were Jesse's," in an effort to convince her that he doesn't love her and so to leave with her mother.

When Lucas Boyd arrives at his house, unlocks her handcuffs and tells her to pack as they are leaving town, Holly drugs him and handcuffs him to a pillar. He wakes up and burns the pillar with a lighter from his pocket and makes his way to the Kramers' where he is admitted by Christina.

Anna returns to the church and reveals her failure to kill Christina. Sarah Parker tells her son Jesse that she will always be her for him, no matter what happens. Out of hearing of Jesse, Father Matthew tells Sarah that unless she is willing to die and blesses the knife on its killing stroke it won't work. Sarah says she is ready and takes her place in the circle of six other people who are praying in the basement of St Martin's church. A glowing apparition of David Burke appears, saying that his sickness was a means to become something more. He is apparently an angel and tells Jesse that those people have got it wrong, they need to keep it simple, "Thou shalt not kill."

Sheriff Logan Parker is told via radio that two more people have disappeared after changing their wills to leave everything to St Martin's, bringing the total to seven disappeared people (including his wife Sarah) in only two days. He turns up at St Martin's to be knocked unconscious the instant he sees his wife. When he wakes up Sarah tells him that all seven volunteered and didn't explain because they didn't want interference. They are going to be seven souls ready to guide Christina's soul to Heaven when she is killed.

Jesse is given the knife he is to use to kill Christina. When he arrives at the Kramers' he is knocked unconscious by Lucas. Upon awakening he talks alone with Christina while the ritual is proceeding in St Martin's. He says he was playing along with the church so he could get to her, he loves her, and if he can't go on with her there's no point in him being here and he gives the knife to Christina. Meg Kramer hears this and celebrates because love is what is needed to resolve the situation and save Christina. Christina's visage changes, she is moved and appears meek, responsive to Jesse's love. She and Jesse hug whereupon he stabs her.

In St Martin's, Sheriff Parker shoots Father Matthew just as he is about to kill Sarah as part of the ritual.

The wound on Christina's belly glows and seals. Meg enters the room and tells Jesse that he had a vision from David telling him what to do and that the church had nothing to do with God. Judy tells Christina just to kill her and Christina telekinetically throws the knife but Jesse jumps in front and is stabbed in the neck instead. Christina has apparently accepted her status as the daughter of the devil (though the previous episode had referred to her as the daughter of the beast).

The Kramer house starts shaking and does the town. Ben (though blind) sees Isabella, looking normal. She guides him out of the house.

Christina steps over the wounded body of Lucas, he says "we won," she corrects him, "I won," and he says to himself, "That's my girl."

On a new day, the Kramers say that while they're alive they'll go on and if they can't save Christina they will kill her. Lucas walks to his car and tells his chauffeur to drive to the city, that it's the dawn of a new day and he wants to appreciate the view. The final shot is of Christina walking down a country road, followed by a huge flight of black birds (reminiscent of the opening titles) which sweep in front of the camera.
